Hi All,
I have an intimate question and I am hoping other women can help me out here. I am 44 and pretty sure i'm in perimenopause. I have recently noticed that during sexual intercourse with my Husband I start to spot bleed..and it's usually after my period..like the first week after.
Does anyone else get this? Is this normal during meno? I just want to know if it's normal so I don't have to worry.
Thanks so much for the info

Hugs

Hey countryangel,
Yes, I have experienced bleeding during and after intercourse for several years
now. It doesn't seem to matter where I am in the cycle.
This must be related to perimenopause in some way. Interesting post. I never
connected the two before reading your message.

I've had it too for the past several years but never made a connection either. Mine's not enough that I would even call it spotting. Just a tinge of the tissue immediately following. Interesting ... did either of you ever have it happen before peri? I don't think I did.

Dear C:
Although this is probably is due to peri I would suggest that you speak to your GYN to rule out any other condition. I just read the following in a magazine regarding peri: "For the most part, fluctuating hormes are the culprit behind irregular periods. But abnormal bleeding can occasionally signal a more serious problem, including endometrial cancer. If you experience extremely heavy bleeding in which you must use more than one pad or super abosrbant tampon every two to three hours, if you bleed more often than every three weeks, after intercourse, or between periods, see your ob-gyn for an evaluation." Better to be safe.............

Thanks Garnet. You're absolutely right about countryangel seeing her doctor
about this. The last time I had sex (I'm not married) a couple of months ago, and
had the bleeding afterwards, I made sure I mentioned it to my gyne at my yearly
exam.
I WAS concerned about uterine or cervical cancer (Mom had cervical CA at age
38). But everything is fine: normal Pap and ultrasound of the uterine lining.
But please check something like this out with a specialist.
Let us know what happens with you !
