Full Version: Is This A Hot Flash?

Broken Wing
For the past few days, I've been feeling like my upper back is on fire. The feelings come and go and sometime spread to my lower back and arms, but they're not associated with any sweating or feeling unusually "hot" (other than my skin burning).

I've been to the doctor and they can't determine a cause. I've had this before
when my blood pressure was high, but it isn't high right now (I've checked).

Is this a hot flash or something I should be concerned about?

Could well be a hotflash, BW. Mine often manifest pretty much like that--feels like a bad sunburn on my back--for some bizarre reason, they always start over my left shoulder and spread around from there <_<

Hi

Is this wierd or not? I started peri---to the best of my knowledge in early 2001. At the time I was 48 and never really even thought about menopause. For awhile I didn't know what was wrong with me. My first and worst symptom was anxiety verging on the point of panic. Dizziness and lightheadedness followed close behind and I was positive I had a brain tumor or something else equally as fatal. I searched around a bit and finally came across this site. What a God send! Anyway, those were my only symptoms for about 2 years and then my periods became irregular. In April 2004 I had my last period so I am officially post. Up until this past 2 weeks I never had even one hot flash. When I read other posts about hot flashes I couldn't even imagine what one must feel like. I have always been a freeze baby so I figured that I would never get one. But for the last 2 weeks I think maybe I have been having them. I get very warm and sometimes my forehead and back actually get sweaty. I hate that word. Women glisten, not sweat. It passes in a matter of minutes but happens a few times a day. Is this a hot flash? and if it is, is it unusual that I am getting them now that I am post instead of in peri? How long does this meno stuff go on anyway? Anyone out there who can enlighten me? Thanks and have a great weekend. Donna

Donna,

Sounds like a hot flash! smile.gif

Mine come in waves, seeming to radiate up from mid-chest into my face. Off comes the (sweater, shirt, nightgown)! A few moments later I become chilled. On goes the (sweater, shirt, nightgown)!

Some days I do this 25 times or more. tongue.gif

But then there will be a long stretch of NO hot flashes.

Several other women have recently posted about going several years in post-meno and having symptoms suddenly appear.
