I have been taking metoprolol (a beta blocker) for tachycardia for about 2 weeks, now i have some fluid retention in my hands ( have a hard time getting my rings on & off) & also noticable edema in my ankles, the left one especially ohmy.gif (although i did break my left ankle 12 years ago & the orthopedic dr said i will have some swelling on & off, but I have never had it like this before only since i started on this drug) Also standing for long periods causes pain in my ankles & the bottom of my feet & when i press on them with my fingers they are both tender & somewhat painful! sad.gif This has NEVER happened before! It is a possible side effect (i think) or could it just be (here we go again) caused by my out-of-control thyroid? Is there anyone else taking this drug? Some feedback would be most helpful![SIZE=1] [SIZE=1][COLOR=orange]do these ailments ever end???? sad.gif

I'm back....BIG MISTAKE! Seems the swelling turned out to be part of my thyroid problem (hyper) and not the lopressor! unsure.gif mellow.gif My endo put me back on it, said it helps with symptoms of heart palps & tremors although we both agree I still need an adjustment in my thyroid med or try something else, maybe RAI. I feeling a bit better. I will NEVER do that again!
