Has anyone had burning sensations like hot flashes in their feet? This has happened to me a few times in the last few days. My foot suddenly gets very hot and then it wears off.
This is a wierd one!

Hi Alice! Yes, I've gotten them there and I also get them in my legs and pelvic area...like a hot flush, but only inside and in these areas! It's all so weird, I agree! And scary at times, too!

Hot feet here too, Alice. I have developed 'sensitive' feet, I guess you could say, it takes NOTHING for them to get tired, achey and sometimes they itch like crazy. The other day at work, my feet were SO hot, when I took my shoes off and walked on the DRY pavement, I left WET foot prints! Go figure. My girlfriend told me that her feet used to get TERRIBLY hot during peri. s*cks, doesn't it.

Hello Hot Footed Ladies,
Oh my gosh, that's a new one! I haven't had that (yet) but I have had hot flashes in my right bum (not both, just the right one). Only lasted a couple of days and then it went away.
What are our bodies thinking? It's all so weird. It's like what addicts go through upon withdrawal...are we estrogen addicts????

Yes, Alice, I too have been plagued with burning feet, generally at night.
Since, I'm Diabetic and peri-menopausal, I'm confused as to which is the culprit.
Cutting down on carbohydrate foods helps me alot. Also, I'm using a natural estrogen cream and a progesterone cream at different times of the month.
My mother always took B vitamins for burning feet. I'm also using that.
Something is working but I don't know which.
I feel for you. Burning feet are a nuisance. Just know that you're not suffering alone.

Keep researching the subject. You'll find your solution.
Hope you get some relief soon!

And I was in two-minds whether to post this in case you thought I was a crazy lady. This isn't in the books with the hot flashes and dry vaginas is it? What do doctors know!

Alice, I've thought about posting this too!

My feet get soooo hot when I first crawl into bed to watch the tube before sleep. The rest of me is cool as the AC is on 70 but I have to hang my feet out of the covers. They almost burn they're so hot. No sweat, just hot. I hate it.
alice3
Aug 25 2005, 07:31 AM
Yes I've got a thing about hanging one foot out of the covers and if I don't I feel like my body is suffocating!

Then I have to throw the covers off.
The burning feet thing went away for a while until the night
before Skunky's posting...I add that as it wasn't by
suggestion.. and only my right foot was burning hot!
Gosh it's like guerilla warfare...you'll never know where you will get hit next!

Oh my gosh... I thought it was just me. I've had my feet get so hot I wished I could turn the a/c in my car onto the floor to cool them off. Just tonight I was holding them in front of the fan in my bedroom.

I have been having VERY hot feet during hotflashes. But my feet get so hot and sweaty i can't stand to have my shoes on.I have been taking both my socks and shoes off in the car but i can't do it in the stores.Today i was at a restaurant eating lunch and it was so hard to keep my socks and shoes on.I thought about going out to the car and taking them off but instead i waited it out and it went away.I thought hot flashes were only supposed to affect the upper part of our bodies?

My hands and feet were ALWAYS cold...until this stuff. Now my feet are really hot sometimes. This has been going on for a few years. I don't notice my hands being hot....yet!! Don't know if I should post this here, but does anyone get pains in the bottom of their feet right below their toes, like in the balls of your feet, and it feels like your toes want to cramp all up? I don't know whether to attribute that to hormones or whether I have something wrong with my feet or my back or what

Yes yes Tots ,
The last 2 months at least three times in a month I seriously get the weirdest pain just feels like they are in spasm and they need to be clicked . It is horrible . The hot feel too those started about 8 months ago thought nothing of it but there you go I have partners in this phenomenon too

Thanks for responding Flying Fairy.
That is the weirdest feeling!! And painful too! It doesn't surprise me that it's another peri symptom......I don't think any parts of our bodies are safe from this stuff

I haven't had that happen for a while now. When I get the pain in my feet, I usually rub them and try to keep my toes from tying themselves in knots

This site has saved me life! Have been reading all your comments for many months now, but have never responded. I started having the hot foot flushes several months ago. I also have burning scalp at times, burning shoulder and the list goes on and on. The anxiety and fear from all of this has made this the worst time of my life. I feel like I am becoming a hypocondric (sp?)! Just when I accept one crazy feeling, something else comes along. I also get the neck flushing when the fear of something new takes hold of me. I never used to be like this. Now I have tenderness at times around my navel and on the right side of my waist just for fleeing moments and it is gone. It seems like my nerves are over synthesized. I take Xanex, natural progesterone cream and super B complex. I am close to 51 and starting to have shorter cycles and am so ready to be done with all of this!

Well, for some reason I sometimes get this weird feeling...as I'm trying to fall asleep, as I am falling into sleep, my body tenses, I got a hot burning feeling throughout it and cannot drop into sleep...I get up and the feeling goes away...it's like my body thermostat is messed up...so many weirdo happenings...just weird body feelings and I know it is all hormone related...it seems like an endless parade of new crap every time you turn around! LOL

I get hot feet too, it seems for no reason at all and at silly times. I quite often have to stick them out from under the duvet at night so I can get to sleep. Last night, with a temperature of -2 C I was walking around in bare feet. (bit late in posting this but had to join in!)

Well, as I started this topic (and thought you'd think I was a mad woman), I'll change it slightly and add to the "think I'm a hypochondriac" thing... I don't get the hot feet as much but this week I've been getting a sudden pain in my leg, feeling as if it had broken!

It lasts for an hour or so and I can't put weight on it, then it goes for a couple of days, then comes back!
Last night I slept with a cold gel eyemask wrapped around my leg to ease the pain
I've heard of eyes in the back of your head but this is rididdlous!

Hi Dorry, I get that too, my legs and arms also twitch sometimes. Its very annoying. I think it is worse if I take advil or something before I go to bed.

My newest symptom on this subject is kinda hard to explain. I used to wake up with night sweats, meaning face, neck and chest soaked. Now in the last 3-4 months I get what I can only compare to having really, really cold legs up to my knees and how it feels if you step into hot bath water, it's not pain, it's not hot, and it's not cold. Hopefully you know this feeling I'm trying to explain. When this feeling hits I know it's a prelude to a night sweat, but I don't get as soaked with sweat as I used to. This feeling really is hard to explain. Also, the palms of my hand have been having hot flashes too.--Shelley

Believe it or not I had this problem when I was a teenager. Not the sweating feet part but my feet would get SOOO hot that I'd sleep with really cold washclothes or ice packs on them! I remembered that recently. I'm sure it was hormonal but never thought of it back then. But it was horrible.

Burning feet? Man, do I wish for that in the worst way! My feet and hands are always cold. Have to wear socks to bed.
However, the back of my scalp has hot flashes like you wouldn't believe. This makes me feel better, knowing that I'm not the only one who has hot flashes in 1 area of the body.

I would love to have cold feet, my hands are generally like popsicles. Don't get to excited the burning only last briefly

I am so relieved to hear about other women having hot feet! I've been having a problem with this for a few years now, and it's terrible! It's the worst when it wakes you up. I used to put my feet in the tub and run cool water on them, but that'll wake you up!!

They make all sorts of things for keeping your feet warm, but nothing for cooling them off! But I finally found a pair of slippers that you can microwave or freeze! Needless to say, I keep them in the freezer, and when I have my hot feet at night, I just get them out, slip them on my feet and blissfully fall back to sleep!

Yep! I have hot feet. Mostly I sleep with a light weight down blanket throw over me with my feet sticking out. the blanket is soft and cool to the feel.
I also get hot falshes in my stomach. At first, at age 41, when I started peri, I thought is was stomach acid in my stomach. I finally realized that it was a hot flash. It is a burning sensation right across my stomach. today I have had consistant hot flashes in my feet and stomach and one in my ears.
46yrs old. Started peri @41 Oh I am sorry! I was too young to be in peri

i've always had hot feet... sigh. even as a child i slept with my feet out of the covers.. if my feet are hot, so is the rest of me.. yes, i have always hated shoes.. i wear slip on sandals even in the dead of winter here... altho! the dead of winter where i am (north coast NSW, Australia) is very mild indeed, so that doesn't really count i guess! lol..

Hot feet here too, but not only feet; I often get hot hands too. This usually happens after my regular few flashes before going to sleep, the hot feet start, and then the hands heat up, and trying to find a cool place for all of them is quite a bother!!!

Isn't this werid -- I've also had burning feet and burning hands. Somestime I'll just get hot feet and everywhere else on my body is cool. This is so weird - what actually causes this, anyone know?
