I have aching upper arms and wrists this is like almost overnight!
I think I have hit perimenapause full on because I think I have everyother symptom there is. That is anxiety, panic attacks, insomnia etc
I am low in iron and was found to be aenemic. All this in the last 5 weeks!!
Someone please tell me I'm not going crazy pleeeeeaaase!!! I have 2 teenage sons and have a stressfull life but this isn't new to me. I am a full time teacher too! So forgive me for any spelling errors as I'm just sooooo tired and confused. My doctor seems sympathetic and isn't sure if it's not a mixture of stress and possible peri! She gave me some serapax to help with the sleep and that helped.
I took some magnesium the other day and that's when I woke with these real achy muscles! I checked my vitamin tablets later and they already have magnesium in them. Has this ever happened to anyone else? Do you think I had an overdose of magnesium. My aches are not as bad today but they feel like I've strained my muscles and I haven't done anything strenuous lately. Please reply if this sounds anything like what you've been through. Pleeesa so that I know I'm not going crazy! I really want to stay posititve, but it feels like some days are okay and others disastrous. A mini battle within oneself!! sad.gif sad.gif

Hi,

I'm so sorry you're having these feelings! sad.gif

Others on these boards have talked about achy muscles - perimenopause just seems to hit about every body system! It's worth asking, tho' - could you have something like carpal tunnel going on? You mention that you're a teacher, so I suspect you do a lot of work on the computer.

Otherwise, it could be that hormones are involved. Power-Surge has wonderful articles in its archives, and there's lots of support here on the boards. The most important thing to know is that MANY women don't find the transition through menopause to be an easy one. You're not alone!

You might like the books of Claire Weekes and Lucinda Bassett - they deal with issues of anxiety. Both helped me very much when I was struggling, just very good information on what to expect, and how to cope while recovering. For other symptoms such as insomnia, you'll find many suggestions all over this site.

Best of luck to you!

Hi CopingCapers

I have also had to deal with aching muscles in the arms. I too am iron deficiency anemic and have also noticed now and at previous times in my life when I've been anemic (I'm prone to it), I've had aching muscles in various parts of my body. Stress doesn't help matters. I'm not sure that taking extra magnesium would do this. In addition to what Jacquie says about peri and anxiety, do take your iron pills and have your iron levels and other bloodwork monitored by your doctor! The best thing you can do for yourself is to look after your blood!
