Whew! These are discouraging statistics.

Women really do still have the brunt of care for the young and the old, and are expected to do so very much for others while trying to maintain some small piece of who they are INSIDE. No wonder they are depressed and overeating and not sleeping!

Throw in the hormonal ups and downs, and Holey Moley!

This is why I thank God EVERY SINGLE DAY for Power-Surge!!!

Thank you thank you, DEAREST Dearest!!!!

If 63% of females are overweight, maybe the government charts are WRONG!

Geez. Maybe the figures are skewed. What percentage of women who quit smoking compared to men, use an anti-depressant ie Zyban, Nortriptylene to achieve their goal? What percentage of women going through meno are on an anti-depressant to control hot flashes, ie Effexor or Welbutrin? Did the study differentiate between need, or just lump everyone on the drug into the class called depressed.

I just saw my doctor to request a referral to a specialist. He agreed, but wondered, "What do you have against anti-depressants?" siiiiiiigh I'm not depressed. I'm frustrated.

And here is another statistic regarding to women, as quoted by one of my nursing professors:

"70% of women who read fashion magazines are depressed AS HELL by what they see."

LOL! That lecture woke us all up. We'd never heard our prof speak in such passionate terms before.

Personally, I gave up reading fashion magazines years ago. Got sick of being made to feel guilty for not looking like a walking stick.I literally STARVED myself, worked out like a fiend, and even resorted to abusing laxatives for years trying to live up to that impossible standard, because I thought if I did so I would finally please my husband and get his attention. Yeah, right. His attention problems had nothing to do with how I looked, even though he liked to claim that was the reason.

My son got a real lesson in airbrushing the other day. He had the show "Reba" playing on one tv, and simultaneously a video came on tv with Reba singing with someone else on MTV on the tv in his room. He said "Mom, look-she doesn't even look like the same woman!" I said "That's because everything on MTV is digitally remastered. All those 'perfect' girls you see aren't perfect-they're just airbrushed. And the sad part is, guys see this day in and day out, and expect their girlfriends/wives to look the same, and dump them if they don't."

He didn't say anything, but I could hear the wheels turning in his head.
