Hi,
I suffer with:
Light headed feeling
Spaced out
Fog brain
Scatter brain
One finger feels like arthritis and won't go away
Abdominal pains for a month straight with some really sharp pains ovulating.
Hot feet
Super tired
Red patch on my face
Over active bladder
Desire to kill everyone on the planet.
Will Estrovan help?. I hear it's an over the counter drug. I heard about it from my nurse practicioner and my husband said his co worker took it and it seemed to help her.
Here's to moving to Alaska!! Maybe we could freeze it outta us.
Thanks

I have to be honest and say that Estroven did not really make a difference for me (I took it for the recommended 3 months before giving up). That DOESN'T mean it wouldn't work for you! Some women swear they are helped by it.
My own feeling is that it's not a terribly expensive way to try to help yourself. Why not give it a try?
Some of us can relate to your experiences, especially the desire to kill everyone on the planet!

(ninja smiley).
Hope you feel better soon.

Well, I was doubtful about it and it costs £14.99 (28 US dollars) in the UK which I think is dear! However I think it has improved my temper and have bought another box. I think it has also smoothed my anxiousness but I still take Natracalm (passiflora incantata or something) when I feel a bit whoop di doo.
I would give it a go and see. I can't drink soy milk as it gives me tummy ache.

I tried Estroven also and it didn't do anything positive for me ... in fact, I stopped taking it because it made me feel more anxious and irritable - similar to OTC diet pills. I've heard that it works great for others, though.

Hi Punkin
Yes, I do receive a benefit from taking estroven. My night sweats almost completely stopped a few days after starting with estroven. My energy is better and mood is better.
I do notice that at the end of my period is when I suffer the most from that really bad fatigue. I just have to allow myself to rest. But a few days after the end of my period , I start coming back to better energy again.
Before estroven, I never had any energy and my mood was terrible.
I also increased my multi vitamin to twice a day and added fish oil tablets and st johns wort on a daily basis.

MenoManager-
I'm so glad the Estroven works for you --- wish I hadn't thrown mine away or I'd gladly send it to you. I'm a perimeno newbie ... just recently put 2 and 2 together and realized that I'm perimeno. Have made an appt with a new gyno who specializes in meno and can't wait to see her. In the meantime, I've switched to prenatal vitamins - I read a transcript on this site and the author stated that she takes them. I've also begun taking Vitamin E in addition to calcium. Just wish I could find something that would alleviate my "brain fog."
This site is awesome - I've never seen anything like it - as bad as our symptoms may be, it's nice to at least know there are others out there who are sharing the "ride" and have gone on before us.

I am half way through a box of the Walmat generic equivalent. I feel it has been helpful with sleep. I had been waking in the middle of the night full of unexplained anxiety, and unable to go back to sleep. This seems to be helping that AND, the crazy night-time over-active bladder thing that popped up acutely about two months ago.
The calming herbs must be doing their thing!!

Hi BevR
My friend , Rosita (49 years old) was complaining about nightsweats and not sleeping well , hotflashes and depressed mood. I told her about estroven (we get the generic estro plus) and after 3 days she told me her night sweats were gone, she was sleeping better and her mood was better.
At the same time she also started taking the other things I take.
2 multiple vitamins a day, 1 st johns wort a day, 2 fish oil tablets a day, 1 fiber con tablet a day.
She looks 20 times better. She is smiling again and looks healthier. It worked for her too.

The instructions on the box do say that some may have to take Estroven for a while before they see the benefit. Perhaps we were just lucky..mine only took a few days.

I believe I am sleeping better & night sweats are better (or I'm just sleeping thru them! lol). Just finished my first 30-day box. Not really sure about all the other symptoms. They come & go. Is it the Estroven or just that I happen to feel better??? Who knows? I did buy the larger box this time. As long as it doesn't make anything worse, I'll continue to take them.

Hi Guys,
With Estroven I 100% know that my night sweats are better......because I used to have'em horrible. I was soaked every night. But now, they are gone.
I do have a wee bit more energy during the day.
I suffer the most in the mornings. I feel like I have a hang over . Almost flu like. I feel weakish first thing in the morning. But it wears off.
I'm ovulating now, and this is the worst time for me. Last night , I was teaching a indoor cycle class and in the middle of class I ovulated a big egg and I think it was stuck! I had to stop riding because I felt very weak and crampy. I'm still ovualting this morning and I can feel it. This will take a couple days and then I'll hopefully feel better.

Hi Alice
Maybe it's the Brits that feel it most! I'm Englishl....are you? I see you live in UK. My mother was born in England !
Unfortunately my mother can't tell me anything about her menopause. She had a hysterectomy and then got put on hormones so she didn't notice any changes.
I also think Estroven is helping me with fog brain. It got so bad before estroven that I just couldn't think. I forgot everything and had to write lists for everything. And I was so tired I couldn't leave it to chance. I had to plan anything to get done. And I only did what was necesarry. I am still a bit tired during the day but not like before and at least now I have a much clearer brain.
And yes,.....I feel very sorry for the chickens with big eggs.

Hey, I get hot feet too. Is this another symptom of peri-menopause?

Hi Alice,
I'm a Brit too and I think we tend to take after our mothers. I remember my mum being terribly irritable and sad although I didn't understand it then. She went through a really hard time and had no support from anyone. I suppose we reall;y ought to think ourselves lucky that we can talk and have supplements such as Estroven to get us through

Sadly, I can't ask my Mum as she died when I was 31. I can remember when she was in her 50's as she'd lose her temper. She walloped me on the leg with a coathanger and I gave her one of my looks and she ran downstairs crying. I can also remember her worrying about having throat cancer (probably another meno problem that I've seen here).
I had problems with anxiety and agoraphobia after my daughter was born and my Mum said that she'd been the same. So we perhaps do follow our Mums.
My daughter already suffers with up and down hormones, so I dread to think what sort of time she'll have. Sometimes I wonder whether it's right that women are allowed to stay on the pill without taking a break. I seem to remember in my day how we were only allowed to be on the pill for a few years before we were made to take a 6 month break.

Hi Alice & Skunky
Skunky, I had hot feet too but estroven made it go away. That is a weird symptom of peri meno pause ., I hated that, and so glad it's gone.
I guess my worst symptoms now are queasy feeling in the morning, and no sex drive. My vagina walls seem to be thinning out too. Sorry if that is too much information.
I've always thought of myself as English because my mother was born in England and my Grandparents (her parents) were a big part of my up bringing. My mother moved with my grandparents from England after the war when she was about 10 yrs to Canada then to america. First Michigan and then sunny california (my grandparents were no fools). So , I was born in Michigan and then moved with them all to california when I was about 7 yrs, so I'm really a true california girl but my heart is from England.

Hi Everyone,
I guess I'll put my 2 cents in. I suffer from hot hot hot flashes (the severe kind) and I started taking Estroven. I took it for 2 months and it didn't help me at all. I finally decided to try vit E, Primrose oil, and soy. I am happy to say that my flashes are coming less and less often. I am still kind of tired, but I will take that over hot flashes anyday. Oh, and my mother told me last weekend that she suffered from hot feet and had to keep a fan on them.

Jadebear Yes I asked my doctor's advice about taking Estroven. In fact I asked more than one doctor. They seemed to think it was just fine. Even when I needed blood tests it was STILL okay to take it...............

Menomanager, It's weird how we all suffer diffferently. I take Estroven and I STILL get hot feet. For me, I find that it helps with getting to sleep. How sweet that you have an English heart!!!! I left England when I was 20 to live in Spain for 27 years. (I'm now 50). Now I am in California, and although I do love it here - I miss the Spanish lifestyle a lot - AND the food!!!

Hi Skunky,
Once a brit.....always a brit. Cause I love London town !!
Well, My doctor was the first to tell me about estroven. She doesn't want to give me hormones, and I'm not totally sure I want them either, so I don't make an argument with her. But she suggested Estroven and I think it does have some true benefits for me.
She also told me to take fibercon for my high cholestrol (which is totally under controll now , thank goodness). Also fish oil. I take one mulit vit in the morning and one at night. I feel I need more vitamins because I don't always eat right and because I workout a lot being an exercise instructor. I'm 45 and I'm feeling my years ! Everyone else says I "look so young" but I don't always feel that young !!

Hi Ya'll
I've had meno fog brain for about a year now. At first I didn't know what it was, I only knew I couldn't think! Estroven has cleared my mental abilities to a big extent but I still have some floating/fogging in my brain at times. When this happens, at least I know what it is, and I just roll with it.
Wishing you all a happy and stress free morning !

Hi Moonlight,
No , you don't have to have a prescription for Estroven. You don't have to talk to your doctor but next time you see your doctor , it doesn't hurt to let him/her know.
Actually , it was my doctor that recommended Estroven to me.
Cheers !

Hi Moonlight
I get mine in Wallmart. I get the generic version. It's called "estro plus" (extra strength).
It has helped many people with anxiety, nightsweats and hotflashes, mood, energy. It has helped me with all of the above !
It's cheap at wallmart. 9 bucks for a months supply.
Can't hurt and might help !!

Remifen is only black cohosh. Estroven has other ingredients (I'd have to look at the box). Do a google search for each.

Does anyone know if this is safe to try if you're on the pill? I went back on it to help with my periods (which were all over the place) and it has helped with that but not the anxiety or fatigue or the other fun stuff.
I think I'd almost rather deal with the period stuff than the anxiety and not being able to sleep! You wanna talk brain fog! I get to go to work for 12 hours today and deal with college students after about 3 hours of sleep last night (if I'm lucky).
Thanks for all the input! It's so nice to know I'm not alone in all this!

I'd have a word with your pharmacist first.
I think I'm having a break from Estroven, to see whether this has been causing me night time/morning anxiety. I'm taking Menopace for a while, which has more vitamins and minerals and a little less soy isoflavones.
