Has anyone had bleeding with postmenopausal vaginal dryness? I don't mean bleeding after sex. What I'm referring to is finding blood when you wipe yourself after urinating. I had a D&C in March because of this bleeding and everything turned out ok. Now I'm bleeding again and the gyn. says it's normal to sometimes bleed even 6 mos. after a D&C. Somehow this didn't really put my mind at rest and wonder if it could be vaginal dryness.

Hi Noodles,

I haven't had bleeding with vaginal dryness, just very painful intercourse. It sounds as though your doc is not terribly worried. It might make you feel better if you have a visit with him/her, and get things checked out again.

Are you sure the blood is coming from the vaginal area, and not from the urine itself? Again, this is worth checking out.

Good luck to you. I know how confusing these times are, with the irregular bleeding, etc. I had bleeding of some sort almost constantly for a while there. Finally, I seem to be stopping with cycles altogether (hallelujah), and it is a RELIEF to have no bleeding going on.

I'd check it out and see what the doc says.

Good luck to you!

There doesn't seem to be any blood in the urine when I look in toilet. Only time I've seen the blood is when I wipe myself after urinating. It was non-existent from Monday afternoon until Tuesday afternoon. Then it was very light and this morning it seems to be gone again. This is driving me crazy!! I thought I did all the right things after my first bleeding episode in Dec...went to gyn who recommended D&C but said maybe I should see a gyn/oncologist. Went to gyn/onc. in February, had D&C in early March, results were good but not conclusive because of my fibroid. Did show no abnormal cells. And now the bleeding again......I'm going nuts.

I'm not post so I'm not sure about bleeding because of dryness but just wanted to say that if your concerned go back to the doctor. It could be the fibroids causing the bleeding. I don't think the fibroids themselfs bleed but they irratate the uterine lining causing bleeding. I think fibroids are suppose to shrink after meno. Have you had an ultrasound to check? Just some thoughts. Take care and I wish you well.

The gyn/oncologist I saw said it is doubtful my huge fibroid would shrink even it hasn't already. I had my last period in January 2001. He said if it did shrink, it would be minimal and hard to tell because of the size.
