Hello

I am new to this site and had a question. I had my TAH BSO a few months ago and am on Climara patch .1 (since day 2 of surgery). I had the surgery because of a giant fibroid and did not have any perimenopausal symptoms that I was aware of.

I didnt feel any different using the patch (since I didnt have symptoms prior) and thought that surgical menopause was a breeze. However, about 2 weeks ago I started having very warm feelings in my upper stomach area and it would move to my breasts. Sometimes it would last most of the day. It alternates between hot and cold in no particular order. I spoke to my internist and she said it may be acid reflux and gave me prevacid. That didnt make any difference and I am going to see my gyno next week.

What I dont know is if this is the beginning of hot/cold flashes although they dont go up any farther than my breasts. I am starting to get hotter than usual and sometimes very cold. It seems like my internal temperature clock doesnt know what to do.

Has anyone experienced this? If so, what were your experiences and what did you do?

Thanks for any help. ohmy.gif

Hi Wally,

I just found this, and am sorry to see you didn't get any responses yet.

My own experience is that hot flashes go up into my face (in my chest, too), but it seems people on this site have many different ways of experiencing them.

It seems like my internal thermostat doesn't work efficiently anymore. At times if a room is too hot, I don't cool as easily, and vice-versa. My hub actually says he has the same experience, so we're wondering if this isn't something that happens naturally as we get older. You know how there are all these warnings about elderly and heat or hypothermia.

It's good that you've talked to your doc about it. It's best to just monitor if it continues, and see if the experience changes at all. Sure sounds like it could be related to hot flashing.

Good luck to you, and welcome to Power-Surge. There's a lot of GOOD info on this site - hope you've had the opportunity to look around at some of the articles.
