My libido has been non-existent for several years. I've tried the testosterone route; it didn't do a thing but make my hair fall out. I finally decided that my sex drive was gone forever and I needed to just accept it. I can really relate to all the desperate posts on this board. My lack of interest has taken a real toll on my marriage. But quite by accident, I came across something that helped with my problem, and has had the same effect on the 2 other ladies who are taking it. It is Femarelle; a capsule that contains tofu and flax seed. I started taking it after reading a post about it on the “Bioidentical Hormone” board. Our thread has remained on that board, although it is not the most appropriate place for it. Femarelle is a soy product and does not contain any conventional hormones, just phytoestrogens like those in other soy products. After taking 2 capsules a day for 1 week, my hot flashes were completely gone. I also noticed a big increase in vaginal secretions. Then after about 1 month on Femarelle (2 capsules daily) I noticed that my libido had returned. It was like someone turned on the switch again. I was amazed, particularly when the other ladies taking Femarelle reported a similar effect. Unfortunately, in addition to libido boost there were a couple of undesirable side-effects with Femarelle such as water retention and a definite increase in breast size and sensitivity. Since I am trying very hard to lose weight right now, I cut back the dose to 1 capsule a day. At the lower dose the water retention was reduced but unfortunately the libido disappeared as well. After experiencing some dizziness at the lower dose I stopped taking Femarelle altogether. I did not notice any dizziness at the higher dose. When I get down to my goal weight I plan to give the higher dose of Femarelle another try. It was like a miracle to have a libido again, if only for a day or two.
