Can someone please answer some questions for me? I have never had pimples like I have now on my chin. It started the day before my last period. I had 4 jumbo zits. I'm still battling with them. I'm going to be 47 yrs old & have more zits then my 15 yr old daughter.
Also I don't really get hot flashes, I get sweats a few days before my period, my back, neck & chest is this peri?
My periods are weird too. I used to go any where from 21-24 days bleed alittle for 2-3 days. Now I go 21-24 days bleed real heavy w/ cramps day 1, day 2 bleeding 1/2 the day, looks like it stops, then wake up day 3 & starts alittle, then for the next 3-4 days that brown junk. Is this any sign of it wanting to stop?
And through all of this Killer ANXIETY every DAY!!!!!!
Please looking for answers

Hi Nancy
This all seems pretty normal to peri. I also have a fifteen year old daughter who has better skin than I do. I so far have not had a hot flash but wake up at night sweating on my chest, neck and back. But yet I don't feel hot. Very strange. My periods are all over the place for the last couple of years. Feel like I'm going through puberty again. Are we close to the end? Wish I had that answer. It's a rollar coaster ride I wish would stop. Good luck to you and may we all get through this hard time of our lives.

If you have a facial peel I think it gets rid of brown spots. I'm not even that brave!

I used my microdermabrasion kit the other day. Guess I got a bit carried away cuz now I have these crusty spots.

I bought some of that acid peel stuff but have only used it a couple of times. It stings & itches b4 it's time to wash off. I don't like it.
I just read an article about how to clear pimples .... found in manuscripts from 17th century London. It's nasty but I'm going to post it anyway......

Here's the article:
LONDON (Reuters) - Take two puppies, cut off their heads and collect the blood, reads the 17th century instructions -- not for some voodoo rite but to cure pimples among the middle class.
Weird health and beauty recipes have been around for a long time. Now two old manuscripts, found at a British stately home and coming up for auction, suggest some truly odd cures for everyday ailments.
The 300-year-old cookery, medical and household recipe books, lavishly illustrated and with elaborate script, give advice on almost everything, from treating burns to getting rid of freckles, said manuscript specialist Luke Batterham.
"These books are a very direct insight into what people were interested in in the late 17th century," Batterham told Reuters. "People seem to go a very long way for beauty, now and then."
One recipe advises to take "2 Puppies before they can see, chopp of their heads & hang them up by the heels to bleed," then mix with white wine to rid the patient of unsightly pimples.
Scalds and burns, another says, are best treated with a mixture of sheep's dung and fresh goose grease, while four-day-old lemon juice rubbed on the face is guaranteed to eradicate unwanted freckles.
The two books are expected to fetch a total or more than 2,000 pounds ($3,844) when they go for auction at Bonhams in London on March 15.

ROTFLMBO! You two are KILLING me here! I went through the zit stage for a while in my early 40's (45 now) and they were HORRIBLE! I still get the occasional zit, but I notice WRINKLES more than pimples these days. Lately I've been using Helene Curtis's mud mask. Don't know if it does any good or not, but WOW does it make the face feel good when you put it on and it dries! You can see all of the oil from your skin on the dried mask after about 15 minutes - after I wash it off I use Night of Olay. MMMMMMMM makes the face feel so good!
One thing I did use, when my face was breaking out, was Neutrogena Healthy Skin Anti-Wrinkle/Anti Blemish cleanser. It contains salicylic acid and alpha hydroxy. You have to be careful that it doesn't dry out your face, but if you use a good skin cream with it (and I know neutrogena makes one that goes with it) you won't dry out. Helped me out allot when I needed it!
HUGS!

Isn't that article awful!!!
As for the "dab" of toothpaste Alice ... I could go straight from the tube as I would need to dedicate the entire tube.

It's so embarrassing at 46.
Kleeo, I may try the wrinkle/blemish stuff. I like the idea of salicylic & AH. I'm tempted to just grab some sandpaper & go to work!!

If anyone's got any hints on how to rid those puffy bags I need a remedy. With the anxiety and loss of sleep (and the time of year I guess) the face looking back at me in this monitor looks hellish. The bags usually disappear aroung 5 p.m. just in time to get ready for bed

Thinking of pretending I'm a moviestar and wearing some really big foxy sunglasses at all times

Nice to know others are reverting back to the teenage years with pimples and skin problems. I get these big red bumps (for lack of a better term) that form a large knot under the skin. They hurt like heck and take forever to go away. They never come to a head - they are just big and red. They look terrible and come around the time of my period. Does anyone else get these things? I didn't even have these problems when I was a teen. What's up with that?

A few tricks I know of are :
1) lemon juice on the blemish will dry it out (and sting like crazy if popped)
2) preperation H lightly dabbed under eyes will shrink the puffys. ( a model's trick I learned from an exboyfriend who dated one)
3) Honey remedy for skin blemishes, cover it with a dab of honey and place a band-aid over it. Honey kills the bacteria, keeps the skin sterile, and speeds healing. "works over night"
Got the last one from an email that has been going around titled something like "granny's cure alls, or easy home remedies".

Hey Boyzmom, that articule, gave me my laugh of the day!!! But back in those days the cure all was "blood letting". They would just drain out some blood to make your illness go away......thank goodness they aren't doing that anymore.
Great advice on the skin care, my mother who had very nice skin all her life, used to always use a egg white mask. She would just dap egg white on her face (cleansed of course), let it dry 10-15 min. and rinse. If you need more moisture, use the yolk as a mask, it works.
As far as the big red pimples that grow under the skin, I get them once in a while, they are painful!!!! I call them boils!!!! They are very visable. My skin is still on the oily side, and this means more clogged pores. But I refuse to give up may makeup, never!!!!!
Have a great day~Jules

I have been using the little alchol pads, 3 X a day & it does dry them up pretty good. However the bumps are still there. It's like they are so far under the skin & they won't pop.
What a life!!!!!!!
