I was watching a TV show this morning that is called something like "New Morning." It tells stories about people that are uplifting, just wonderful!
They told the following true story, that I found so moving, I had to share it with my P-S sisters.
There were 2 children in a family somewhere in the U.S., a boy of 6 and his sister who was 8. The sister had a rare blood disorder, and was slowly dying. The family was frantic to find a blood donor for her, and was not having any luck. It was finally decided to test the boy, and he was found to be a match.
The mother of the family asked her minister to come to the house, and with him, she asked the little boy if he would consider being a blood donor for his sister. He surprised his mother by saying he would have to think about it. A few days later, he came to her and said that yes, he would do this.
When they did the blood transfusion, the doctor put the 2 children on cots in the same room. They drew a pint of blood from the little boy, and began to give it to the sister. The doctor pointed out to the boy that his sister was immediately looking better, her color returning, she became more lively, etc. When he was done, the little boy motioned the doctor to him.
The doctor leaned over him, and the little boy asked, "Will I begin to die right away?"
Lest we forget how wise and strong children can be.... Brought tears to my eyes!
