I am now almost 5 years post meno. Two days ago I developed a very sensitive, sore right nipple. This morning it actually looks a bit red and inflamed. I've researched online and I've found something called "duct ectasia", which occurs post menopause. The milk ducts dilate and can sometimes produce the symptoms I'm having. My sister had breast cancer five years ago, so I'm very nervous about this. I'm going to contact my doctor, but was wondering if any of you have experienced something similar? Thank you for your input.

Hi,
I have had times when a nipple gets very sore and raw from being rubbed against the fabric of a camisole, or something like that. Is it possible your soreness comes from irritation?
It's always wise to get this checked out, so it's good to speak with your doc.
I'll pray it's just something simple. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for replying, Jacquie. I have an appt. with my gyno tomorrow afternoon and hopefully it will be something benign. I'll post afterwards as to what it turns out to be.
