Ok, There I was driving feeling fine and suddenly BAM it hit me. Dizzy and almost felt faint. My heart started to race and I became anxious. From the posts that I have been searching for under the dizzy sections sound more along the lines of a feeling of off balance. I am due to start my period in the next few days and most of my symptoms appear around this time. Does anyone feel that type of dizzy or is there something else going on? I am scared. Is there any of you out there with this type of feeling? Anyone....Anyone?

Hi Periweary,
Is there anything else going on for you healthwise? Do you feel like you might be coming down with a bug, or have you just had a cold or the flu? It's common for me to have this kind of feeling of wanting to faint when I am sick. Last year with the flu I fainted onto the bathroom floor.
Just something to think about. Also, when I used to get terrible anxiety attacks, I would fear that I was going to faint. Were you anxious about something BEFORE the dizziness started?
Might you be anemic? Just throwing out ideas here.
I'll be praying this was just a flukey one-time thing... Let us know how you're doing.

I can relate having to go to the bathroom. I think it is the coursing adrenalin in high speed that is arousing all our insides to move things along at a faster pace, even our heart, respiration and breathing. We get into trouble when the breathing is shallow (thus the dizzy feeling/hyperventilating) and not able to displace the adrenalin. Thereby deep breathing, about five a minute. Inhale four; exhale double the amount and belly breathe.

Thanks ladies. JolieJack I have had a head cold sinus infection. I was just put on anitbiotics and had taken only 2 pills so far. I am afraid of taking any type of meds infact this is a big step for me to take a pill. I was never this way until peri and now I am afraid of every form of meds. I get the what ifs.........Maybe it is associated with anxiety. It was just so different from the other dizzy spells I have had. This was such a fast and sudden wave that left me scared and of couse anxious. Like I mentioned before this was not a off balance or lightheaded it was a definate sudden dizzy/faint. Since my heart rate went up I guess that anxiety can hit out of the blue like that and cause this. I hope so, I am so done with all of these strange symtoms. It seems like every few months I develope a new symptom. I am getting close to having all 34. I wish this would end. I want to go back to being me not a woman afraid of her own shadow, afraid of what else is around the corner. I want to find the end of the rainbow.

Yes, it sounds like anxiety to me (but connected with the hormone inbalance). I was sitting on our garden seat the other Sunday, it was a cool but sunny day. I was watching the robins singing in the trees and the birds flitting back and forth to the bird tables and seed holders...all was right with the world, then BAM, felt woozy, anxious, nauseous and had to go to the loo for a BM. It is the flight or fight thing kicking in.
It still s*cks!

That happens to me occasionally too, Alice. I've always wondered if it was like a pre-cursor to a hot flash? Who knows. Dizziness has always been one of my most persistant symptoms of peri. And it always seems to happen at the most inopportune moments. I've pretty much learned to cope with it - don't have much choice I guess! This too.........will pass. Uh huh! KEEP telling yourself that!

Peri-weary, bless your heart, this IS going to get better.
I think it's very possible your sinus infection/antibiotics had a role in this. And as others point out, the strange thing about anxiety is that it can utterly just come on while you're in the middle of something wonderful.

Unfair!
I have DEFINITELY had the anxiety/feel faint/bowel movement thing, and have even mentioned it to my doctor, who looked at me like I had 3 heads. Hearing you others say you've experienced this only strengthens my belief that it's caused by awful, seesawing hormones.
I HATE HORMONES.

If it weren't for our hormones, though, most of us couldn't claim grandchildren as being more fun than our children. Just think - our body was bathed in estrogen for 30+ years (with me, 42 years) and we really can't expect to give that estrogen up without a good fight. It's a shame we are the ones getting "knocked around" and we are the bystanders.

Okay, grandchildren. That is ONE GOOD THING about hormones.

Hello all
I am 27 and I have ALL the same problems you ladies do. I know I am not in peri BUT I can tell you some information that may help your daughters and granddaughters!
About 8 yrs ago I was put on BCP called Aleese to relieve severe cramping and PMS. Well, I took it for about 3 weeks and my life was unliveable. I stayed in bed all the time. I missed work for those 3 weeks also! I had severe dizziness, nausea, tremors, anxiety attacks, hot flashes, and so many more! I called the dr and told him and took myself off those pills! It was a living HELL. A few days after being off I felt better. BUT ever since I abruptly stopped taking the BC every period there after was a nightmare. For 8 years I have had the dizzy spells, fullheadedness, heavy bleeding, bad PMS symptoms, anxiety, depression, you name it. It wasn't until last week I was soo distraught I decided to search the net for answers. I thought I was crazy and that I had a disease or something. So I found Powersurge and my fears have calmed down. I have finally found that this is b/c of stopping those pills and not being properly educated from the dr about side effects and harmful effects of these pills!!! This is completely hormonal...I just had a baby in March 2005 and I was hoping my body would be thrown back in normal mode but this is not so. It seems worse now but in a different way. Now that I know the cause. I need to know what to do. ANY SUGGESTINS!!!!!!!PLEASE
Let you daughters and grandaughters know and make sure they are willing to take a chance with BC. I innocently took them to regulate my periods and now I wish I were dealing with the cramps rather than all of this!
Thanx for your time all!

Dear Ashley:
Hormones can cause us women a lot of havoc whether we'er 13, 28, 48, etc.
I suffered from post partum depression after the birth of my 3 children. I also suffered from severe PMS/PMDD. As I entered peri my PMS/PMDD got really bad. I tried taking vitamins, exercising, eliminating caffeine from my diet, but to no avail. I finally ended up taking an AD (zoloft) which has helped me greatly.
I would suggest that you continue doing research and to try something natural before taking any medication. Although the zoloft has helped me tremenously, it is habit forming in the sense that there is a withdrawal effect.
Anyway, hope this helps. If you have any futher questions, don't hesitate to ask.

HI periweary,
Love your name. Yes, we are all weary of this journey. I have the dizzy/off balance feeling talked about so much in this forum, but today I felt faint two different times. Once in the mall and the other time in my yard. I really thought I was going to faint at the mall and I hurried up my daughter so we could leave. It could be (and probably is) anxiety related because I felt like my throat was closing up and my chest felt tight, like I wasn't getting enough oxygen.
Another factor to my dilemma is that I've taken Ambien for the past week for sleeping problems. I just don't think it agrees with me so when I got home from the mall I flushed the remaining pills down the toilet.
So, I know I'll be in for a long, sleepless night tonight. No Ambien, rebound insomnia. Oh well. The fun just keeps rolling on, doesn't it ?!

Hi Suzy, I did the same thing you did once: Flushed a medication down the toilet because I THOUGHT that was causing my dizziness. Then a week after the meds were flushed, the SAME thing happened a few times, and I realized it was from something entirely different. So, after I told my doctor what I did, he re-prescribed the meds and I've been taking them ever since. Hormones can cause SO many different symptoms, and it seems like we are constantly trying to blame it on something specific. Dizziness has been one of my worst ongoing symptoms, and I have pretty much learned to live with it, AND deal with it. My Mom said she went through it for YEARS & YEARS, then one day it just finally disappeared never to rear it's ugly head again. My sister takes Ambien occasionally for her insomnia and she said it's been wonderful for her - I've personally never taken it, so I can't comment. My xanax helps me relax so I get to sleep better. Whatever works!
HUGS!

Thanks for the advice. The dizziness has seemed to be the worst here lately. So bad I can't leave the house. I take motion sickness medicines and it never helps, sometimes even antihistamines. I think I will try the herbal route though. Natural seems to be the smartest strategy. It can't make me feel any worse than I have before.
I also take Paxil for anxiety and I am trying to ween off of it. Soooo I guess I will see how that works out.
Thanks for you concern

I was feeling faint, dizzy, off balance before I started using the soy Revival Shakes. I am just feeling wonferful since using them. I use one shake a day for lunch with a granola bar and one piece of fruit. I have only been on them a little over one week and feel better than I have felt in years. It has truly been a blessing to find this company through Power Surge.

Hello Tally and Everyone: I too have been having dizzy spells and feeling like I'm going to faint. Mine started out as vertigo 8 months ago which was not fun. There were days I couldn't leave the house due to the severity of the vertigo. Now, I mostly have light-headness and slight dizzy spells which are also annoying but not as bad as the vertigo. Sometimes I feel like I'm going to faint. It's a very frightening feeling. I also get it when I'm driving which may get worse because I sometimes suffer from anxiety attacks ...... more so when driving on the freeway. Anway, Tally I would love to hear more about the Soy-Revival shakes. Do you get any side effects from it.? That always my concern. I'm not good at taking medication or products I don't know anything about for fear of feeling worse.
Thanks
Roxie
