Try not to worry. It's just a precaution to do the test. I'm sure what you're going through is just hormonal. I've had bleeding on and off for seven years now!

SB,
I also had totally whacky bleeding there for awhile - something pretty much every day, and I had to carry tampons everywhere.
Try not to be overly worried about this. You are doing the best thing by having it checked, but it is likely just perimenopausal nonsense. My doc had explained that one of the reasons "breakthrough bleeding" can occur, is that the hormone levels aren't high enough to allow the uterine lining to build up, but it keeps trying.
Let us know how it goes, okay? We'll be thinking of you.

sb, I have experience the same thing, after a sonogram & uterine biopsy, my doctor found a hemorrhage cyst. it was SO PAINFUL! I took bcp's for three months and it healed and has not returned.. They are pretty common and heal on their own, most of the time. Wish I could tell you not to stress, but I find myself just stressing over everything and anything. A trip to the dentist to have my teeth clean causes a panic attack.. But one thing I know for sure, you will feel so much better when it's over.. Don't forget to take some ibuprofen before you go.

Hey Snowmoon:
Glad someone has a panic attack when they go to the dentist - I went for my checkup today and waited an hour in the aiting room - the nurse wondered why my blood pressure was high - I could hear my heart beating - now what a panic attack. My checkup was fine - just got to do the normal labs - knock on wood.

exactly, the pre appt panic. imagining the gyn taking one look and saying something negative and then i freak out and can;t even go back to work. and waiting for the results, all these days for the imagination to run free. and feeling disappointed when i see another spot, or feel like a bloated piglet.
thanks for sharing, just hearing from you helps

Try not to worry - it is just a test because 1 out of 100 women have a uterine cancer problem and you need to rule that out. Your odds are great that it's nothing.
I faced the same thing recently and was really just nervous about the procedure and requested a Valium or two beforehand. I got there and had a different doc, a gynecologist other than my regular MD, and she decided to wait on the procedure and try another approach first.
Either way, it's over in a flash and might cause a little cramping but you'll have peace of mind. Stay cool if you can and buy yourself an ice cream cone afterward! Or a really expensive latte.
