hi; Does anyone feel more anxious the day after they take Xanax - day 3 of my period and I am thinking those psycho illness thoughts like I am going crazy and have the strange disease symptoms - I find myself only using Xanax .5 2 to 3x during my period then I will play head games like oh I can handle these feelings - and then I say this is ridiciouls - I am loosing it with these crazy thoughts - how is everyone elses mind on their period week - I am 44 but these crazy illness thoughts are yucky - can't seemed to stay focused on anything and I dreaded getting up today - Yuck also I have the canker sores thaT SEEM TO BECOMING WITH EVERY PERIOD- are there any ladies whacked out there on there period

My whack out time seems to come about 3 days before my period. I get really paranoid, self-pitying, and my usual anxiety is through the roof!!

I actually use Xanax daily (well, at night). I don't find that I feel any different if I stop taking it. Although, in some people you can have "rebound" anxiety. The Xanax blocks certain receptors in the brain. As long as you keep taking it, you're fine. When you stop, the receptor kind of FLOODS open and then regular anxiety can seem more harsh than usual. That's why the stuff is so addictive.

I always knew when my period was coming, because the dreaded canker sores would start up. A few days later, there it was!

I learned to nip them in the bud by cutting out all dairy products while they were there. Sounds bizarre, but it worked - they would not break into "ulcer" mode, and would simply go away in a day.

I have whacked out feelings off and on throughout every month. lol. I NEVER know when they will come. I always feel 'crappy' a day or two before my period, and am SURE to have a headache. Then at the END of the period, I normally get another headache, and then I feel halfway normal until ovulation time.

I take either a half or a whole .25 xanax at night to sleep. Some nights I skip, and never take more than one. Have been since 97 or 98 (can't remember the exact year). I don't notice a bit of difference when I stop taking them; actually don't feel any different WHEN I take them, except for the fact that they help me relax to sleep.

Maybe you should mention this to your doc - could be that benzo's are the right drug for you to be taking.

I've been prescribed Zoloft and the pill (Yasmin) for my symptoms that my doctor says is PMDD and clinical depression. I'm not sure that this combo is the problem but now I have the nausea, horrific headache and nightsweats the night or two before I start my period. I also feel like my allergies are acting up, not to mention the several other crazy things that I go through... then once I start it all goes away. Does anyone else get any of these symptoms right before?
