Hi! I'm new here. I'm 45 and noticed a few things lately that don't surprise me ("warm" flashes, dry hair & skin, new facial hair, irregular cycle). But the one that's puzzling me is excess saliva, lasting for a few days at a time. It's to the point where I'm actually spitting when I'm sure no one is looking. Anyone else experiencing this, or am I just a droolin' fool? Thanks!

Hi Barb-
I am also 45 and have begun experiencing (dry hair, hair loss, irregular cycles, depression, insomnia, internal shaking and anxiety). Fun isn't it?
I myself have not experienced the excess saliva. Hopefully someone else can respond.
I just wanted to welcome you to the boards.

Well . . . since I am new here, I wasn't going to mention the insomnia, depression, and anxiety. But since you brought it up -- yeah, that too.
Anyway, thanks for the welcome Sandy. And EmmaJane. I'm going to pay attention to what's going on if the saliva problem reoccurs. I hadn't noticed a link to anxiety, but then some days I'm amazed at the things I didn't notice!

Strangely, my Mom had something like that!
She had a large, benign ovarian tumor on one of her ovaries and one of the strange symptoms was flooding of saliva -- the doctors think it was because her hormone levels were being messed with.
I would imagine that if excess saliva was hormone related it could happen during a hormone transition like peri/meno.
She too found herslef spitting a lot when she hoped no one was looking.

I had this, during my last pregnancy, so it must be a hormonal thing, I guess!

I have the excess saliva only at night when I'm trying to go to sleep, or maybe thats the only time I notice it! Its annoying and not very sexy!
