rolleyes.gif HI, Everyone. I would like to know if anyone else is experiencing problems with skin during menopause. I have been experiencing problems with acne since having my hysterectomy in November 2004. I just turned 41 in December 04. I take Vivelle Dot natural estrogen patches and use natural usp progesterone cream. I also take lots of vitamins. I would like to know what else that I can do to correct this problem. The acne is around my chin, jaw line, and forehead. I'm starting to feel like I'm going through the teenage years again with this issue. ohmy.gif tally cool.gif

I do get more spots/zits nowadays, very much like my early teenage years. I have to rely on the cover up!

During perimenopause I had cystic acne whenever I used over the counter
progesterone cream. The progesterone can convert to testosterone and
other androgens in some women. This can bring on acne. Also, just being
in peri, or hormine imbalance can bring on acne.

Now I can use the progesterone cream and have no acne. However, now I am
finding it brings on depression. These over the counter Pro. creams are very
powerful! (I had no idea)

rolleyes.gif HI, I'm glad to know that I am not the only one with skin problems. I had been using a progesterone cream from a health food store. It is called Source Naturals natural progesterone cream. It is usp from soy but it contains 500 mg of progesterone per ounce and 22 mg per 1/4 teaspoon. I'm waiting for some natural progesterone to arrive in the mail. It is supposed to have only 200 mg per ounce. It is also supposed to contain raspberry fruit extract(5%ellagic acid) which the company optimal natural health states is supposed to really help with the progesterone. I really hope it arrives today, so I can start to try it out. Thanks for the info. Tally rolleyes.gif

I'm quite sure my skin will never be the same since entering perimenopause. Zits, DRY & ITCHY & DRY & ITCHY, rashes, you name it? Now I get it. And I haven't found a miracle cure for ANY of it. I do know that I have to start drinking more water. It's such a positive thing to do for dry skin not to mention all of the other health benefits. Menopause s*cks.

Hi everyone... Ahhh, love those kitty pictures Tally and Alice - love the dog picture, ahhh, really precious....

I've noticed I'm super dry over the winters due to all the dry heating homes, etc... but - due to peri-meno. I noticed that I have ezema patches at my nose, geez, and the family Dr. gave me Elidel, a prescription ointment/lotion and it seems to work well, but sometimes - it feels like that area is on fire due to the medication - and when the hot flashes hit, youssa - it's hot, hot, hot. I've also noticed that my sinuses have been terrible over the last few peri-meno. years. When I'm super stressed - I've been breaking out with acne too. My hope is - I started having acne in my teenage years when my hormones were flucuating, haha, and it never stopped...so maybe the acne/skin problems I have now means...the opposite is coming...the hormones will soon stop the flucuating... can't wait...

Blessings,
Stacy

Well I have been suffering with hormonal acne for about a year. Had no idea what was happening before but found a website http://www.hormonehelpny.com/column/femaleacne.htm The specialist in question is Geoffrey Redmond his email address is Hormonesny@aol.com. He has written a book called Hormonally Vulnerable Woman. He is based in New York but I am hoping to see a specialist in the UK (where I live) who can treat me in accord with it. One thing I did when I read his website (very informative) was to change my Mirena IUD which after six years I guessed has run out of progeterone. My skin has improved but not totally. Hope this helps rolleyes.gif
