OH ladies, I am so discouraged. My husband and I used to have a very good sex life but now I dont want it hardly at all. Also, I am not lubricated the way I used to be and I know that is normal. My question is this; Ater I have finaly hit menopause, will the desire and the lubrication come back? I cant stand to think that the rest of my life I will never WANT that closeness with my hubby again. Can you help

Hello Sandra

I can empathise with you, because I know just how you feel. The same thing has happened to me, and I could just weep about it. I actually reached menopause about 16 months ago. My desire was already fading before my last period, and if anything it has only gotten worse since then. I know this isn't what you want to hear and maybe it's different for different people, but that's how it is for me. My gynaecologist prescribed tetosterone tablets for me (there is very little choice in New Zealand) and I tried them as per his instructions, but they made no difference at all. I am to see him again mid-February, so perhaps he will increase the dose, but I'm not very hopeful. He prescribed vaginal estrogen cream because of dryness and discomfort, but I've had to stop taking that as well because I have a large fibroid that just got larger while using the cream, and I don't want a hysterectomy. I discovered this site while trawling the Net for help with fibroids. It looks to be extremely informative. At least I can talk with other women who know what I mean when I talk about the menopause and how it has affected me. The lack of libido is just one factor. I think I have the entire lot of symptoms and problems associated with menopause.

Sandra-

I hear ya! Go to Dr. Phillip Warner's page here at Power-Surge and ask him his opinion. He'll answer your questions and will even do a phone consultation with you. He is a wonderful doctor who actually LISTENS! I met him personally in his office last week (lucky me, his office is only an hour from where I live) and I already feel better! Give him a try! All the best is wished for you.

Kiwilady,
Thank you for being honest about your situation. I'm sorry that you are having this issue also. I know how very hard it is. And on top of all this you have the fibroid to deal with. I wish I could help you there. I guess all we can do is wiat for all of this to pass and see if it will improve. I pray it does.
As for this site, it is a font of information and the ladies are fabulous, imformative and supportive. I have not found another site like this one.
Kiwilady, if I can be of help or you just need an ear my email now is vin1113@hotmail.com

I went into an abrupt and stress enduced menopause. About 4 years after my last period I suddenly was unable to climax and I had little if any desire for sex. After doing extensive reading I asked my doctor to write a rx for testestrone cream. As it is an off the counter use of testestrone and it is a rx and they mix it at the pharmacy. ( using testrone gel at a smaller dose than is given a man) ask them to mix it for you in eucirin cream or vanishing cream as vaseline is bad base to attempt to rub in. It took about 3 weeks of applying a small amount to my inner thighs every night and then one day- bingo I was able to cliimax again and my desire to have sex returned. now I just use the cream a couple of times of week. It however, does not help with lubrication issue. vagi fem tablets do not help with the lubrication for me either. If your gyn doesn't know about the cream go to an endocronoligst.
