Oh, the nite sweats are terrible. I often wish if I could just get a full nite's sleep without waking up, I would feel so much better. This morning I woke up at 5:15 am, and laid there till 5:45, then decided I may as well get up. In the process I then awoke my hubby, who also got up same time. Does anyone out there know if there is a natural product i could use, or am I going to have to ask the Doctor for a sleeping pill? I am getting soooo tired, which interfers with everything I do...Please Help!!

I am going throught the same thing. I have to get up in the morning at 6:00 and drive 50 miles to work. I need my sleep but when I wake up soaked in the nite it is so hard to get back to sleep. And the pricklyness is driving me nuts as well
Winter is worse I find because you can't open the window, (can't freeze hubby out)
I may just go out and find a nice snowbank and lay in it tonite

Sleep? What is sleep? There sure isn't any in MY house! The black circles under my eyes are getting harder and harder to conceal these days, and even a caffeine in the morning doesn't get me motivated. I'm either hot or cold. NEVER a happy medium. Put warm pj's on at night to go to bed because I'm FREEZING, then wake up @ 2PM soaked to the bone, so TEAR them off, fall back asleep, and wake up again at 3PM freezing once more! and so on, and so forth......
AIN'T LIFE GRAND?????? blink.gif
(Sorry........been one of THOSE days!!!)
HUGS!
Snowmoon56
Hmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds a little familiar! smile.gif
Just the other day I thinking> something is missing> Then I realize I never wake up feeling refreshed! I HATE THIS I HATE THIS I HATE THIS!!!
I also play musical chair with the gas fireplace>TG for gas fireplace's> first I'm freezing, so on it goes, next I'm HOT, so I hit the off button... No kidding I may need a new switch on it soon! AND OMG the car heater> we just bought a new car and my husband just loves the dual heat controls... Plus he can turn his side on high while I have my window down.. Now people do survive peri-meno????
Kleeo
Now people do survive peri-meno????

GOOD question! Survey says..........?????????? I was wondering the same thing myself. The body endures such drastic changes including mental AND physical. I know peri isn't considered terminal, but it SURE can be considered LONG TERM. Hate it. HATE IT. While most people are dreaming about going on vacation, raising families, building dream homes, I'm dreaming about those days when I was NORMAL, and woke up feeling GOOD and looking forward to the day ahead!
huh.gif Just plain s*cks.

You sound like me
>>Put warm pj's on at night to go to bed because I'm FREEZING, then wake up @ >>2PM soaked to the bone, so TEAR them off, fall back asleep, and wake up >>again at 3PM freezing once more
Some one told me never to wear flannel PJ's but up here it's cold
Hubby also love flannel sheets in the winter, so put the two of them together....talk about HOT!!!
I have learned now to sleep with a light Tee Shirt, this helps a little.
Hubby said I should learn to Budget my hot spells so that when I'm cold I could just use a little of the hot flash........boy wouldn't it be nice to be able to do that.
Men, will they ever understand?

Winter here and I'm having to sleep with one leg out of the covers so i can waft the cool air under the bedclothes.

We sleep together only at weekends now, when there's no hurry to get up in the morning. Who would want to sleep with a puddle?

I just got on the site for Revival.
Boy I guess only RICH people can get releif from night sweats!
Sorry but some people can't afford $200 a month and US to boot!

200$ a month?? It costs me about 50$ a month.

Sorry I was wrong. the $200 was for the bars and that was a 120 day supply

The shakes are 45 a month so in Canadian funds that would be 69.30 a month.
the bars would be 90.86 CND a month.
Plus shipping and handling extra
leanne0721
You can order a 15 day supply of shakes, you should know by then if it helps you. Either way, I really hope you get some sleep!! smile.gif

Alice I laughed so hard when I read this.....just too funny! I am single so I have that big ole queen bed all to myself - and the THOUGHT of sharing it every night gives me the shivers! I wonder if anyone has ever been clever enough to think about inventing some bed sheets made out of cotton terry? Like ONE BIG towel on top of a waterproof mattress pad. Would work for me!

Hi Girls~~I see we are all suffering with these miserable night sweats..mine come and go but now I'm into the 3rd week of waking every hour and a half with a body that feels like an inferno..these are the worst I've ever had..maybe my age..51..has something to do with them getting worse. I spend most of the night taking off my nightgown, then putting it back on because after the sweat is over I freeze to death..I just noticed that when I'm out in the cold my face feels cold but internally I'm cooking..this is insane and to tell the truth I've had enough..but I'm trying to hang in there..because I know it has to end. I've tried over the counter things..promensil..cohosh..primrose oil..but most upset my stomach. I'm going to just starting eating more soy products and count the days till this peri crap is over!! Hope each of you feels better soon.

rolleyes.gif HEY, I use the natural patch vivelle dot and some natural progesterone cream bliss red that I purchased through the mail. It has helped me greatly in almost eliminating night sweats.
GoldenFrost
Thanks for the info Tally
Don't know if I can get the stuff in Canada though.
Canada is pretty strict about what comes over here
I used to be on the Estergine Gel and Progestrone and it worked good
Dr. took me off them said 4 yrs is long enough to be on the stuff as it causes Cancer. No I just have to suffer
chriscarol
You could try Aluna for insomnia, which is an herbal combination of Valerian and
Hops. It doesn't help me, but I've met woman who swear to it
efficacy. The sleep deprivation can get miserable.

Revival isn't easily accessible here? Why I don't know?
Unless it's something to do with European directives, though we're not really part of it yet our bananas have to be straight and we can only buy in kilos. People get fined for selling in lbs.

And I thought I was crazy!
GoldenFrost
My mother in law is a retired nurse and she suggested to take some Gavol at nite.
I took one last nite and i did get a little better sleep then usual
Today I went out and bought some Vit. B12, Magnesium, and some choc. soy milk
I'm armed now.
Lets hope something works. LOL

I found that when I figured Revival into my whole food bill, it's actually pretty economical. They cost me about $2 per serving, which is pretty reasonable for breakfast or lunch. I'd pay just about anything for them anyway, because they have helped me so much that I can't live without them and wouldn't want to even try. I took HRT for a few months, and that was pretty expensive, plus some of those over-the-counter herbs cost quite a bit, and sometimes they don't even work.

I am covered for my HRT by insurance so it never cost me anything
I find that the Black Cohas or whatever it is called never worked.
I am now drinking Soy milk and taking B12 lets see if that works

Hi,
For my night sweats and sleep disorder I notice if I eat or drink nothing 3-4 hours before I go to bed, turn the heat down to 65, or air on, and wear a moisture wicking night gown, I do better. I also have a rx for Sonata which only gives me at the most 5 hours undisrupted, but that is still 5 hours. I also have wick away pillow case which helps with the sweat behind my neck!

If your taking magnesium it would be better to take it with anything else but chocolate, chocolate reduces the absorption of the magnesium.

I live in Florida and just began sleeping in the nude because I was so hot.
Taking my pj's off after a hot flash was awful. I was waking up at least 5 times a night. Somthing I did was sleep on at large cotton towel, grab an ice pack out of my refrigerator and put it behind my neck- this cooled me down pretty fast.
I also purchased a "Chillow". As long as behind my neck is cool I could fall back to sleep quickly..

I haven't had bad night sweats since I started taking Estrace, but I still always have insomnia. Sonata helps that 3-5 am wakeup. I feel far better if I get any sound sleep at all in the early morning hours. Someday I hope to sleep without any sort of meds but for now, survival is my goal.
My Revival is on the truck! I think it'll have a psychosomatic effect if nothing else, since I'm so anxious to try it smile.gif
Skunky
Is there anyone else like me? This is weird, I have been in peri for 5 years now and have most of the symptoms - except night sweats. I really thought I had gotten away with it, especially because my twin sister says she gets drenched some nights. Well, last night I awoke all sticky with sweat, I wasn't drenched or anything just yucky, and I felt anxious, my heart was beating fast. This happened twice and I stayed awake for a while each time. Is this normal? Does it get worse gradually so that I will be drenched too? Rita sad.gif

Skunky
I've had night sweats off and on for 10 years and I have never been "drenched". Sometimes my night shirt is wet around the neck as is my hair. I've woke up too with the anxiety when I have one, not all the time though. I just pull my night shirt up, cool my body off, then freeze to death and go back to sleep.
Skunky
Tots. Well, THAT makes me feel a whole lot better lol!!!! Rita biggrin.gif
DaMomma
OH NO! Not 2 of you?! oh gawd is she on here too?! j/k tongue.gif

Skunkers...that is how it was with me, I STARTED out just sticky and damp..then 1 night...you got it.... *BLAMMY..... blink.gif

But then, who knows, maybe you'll just have the "yuckies" and not the "ishy squishies".. wacko.gif
DaMomma
Last night was horrible, the night sweats, the palps, and sleeplessness...argh!
Angel0508
The night sweats & hot flashes do end.

Meanwhile keep a fan close to your bed.
When they hit just turn it on. They only last
not more than 5 minutes.

Hope this helps!

Angel, yeah, I know hun, I was just whinning abit....Im visiting my BF and we both was lookin forward to some good sleep is all ..Thank you though Hun. I sleep with a fan 12 months a year..have for 21 years. biggrin.gif

21 years Man that's a long time.
Really Must be hot where you live! LOL

Angel

No,no,no, hehehe I meant is that I have to have the air circulating and the noise of the motor in order for me fo sleep. smile.gif
Angel0508

Nothing worst than a too quiet bedroom!

CSugarGrove
DaMomma, it's called "white noise." I sleep much better with white noise, too, because otherwise I used to wake up with a racing heart and it seemed like my hearing was really ACUTE--I thought I could hear car engines and sounds that seemed to be miles away, as well as all kinds of creaks and sounds inside the house. I'd wake up with the usual 3:00 am insomnia and lie there listening to all kinds of sounds. If you have a fan or something, it masks the individual noises and relaxes you so you can fall back asleep.....hopefully....

I had heard that some women got red in the face when they had a hot flash, and everyone knew it. I was dreading when it would happen to me--probably in a meeting at work or something. But not everyone turns red--do you? I've asked people to tell me if I look red or sweating when I'm having a flash, and they say I don't.

I never got drenched at night, either. Sure, I'd have night flashes and throw off the covers. Angel is right--they only last five minutes. But I've never had to change the sheets or my night clothes or anything.
DaMomma
Angel0583746598378465..hehe you nut!

Sugs...white noise..white noise...well Ill be...hummmm....

I started sleeping with a fan when I was pregnant with my first. We had lived in a very busy neighborhood, and especially during the day, I found it so difficault to sleep with all that noise! I craved crickets and morning doves, and frogs croakin... so I thought of the fan.

I have heard that too about gals's faces turning red,..I havent seem anyone yet, and no, my doesnt either....during a hot flash., with night "drenches" thats a different story. I mean drenching! have had to change the sheets may atimes, and i sleep nakey mostly now too because of it. I have a box of baby wipes next to my bed to wipe myself down..so I dont stink so bad afterwards too and not have to go take a shower until in the morning.....hate it hate it
mrsb76
Oh, I'm one of those lucky gals whose face turns red! I get warm and I can just tell my face is red. I've been like that my whole life though. Heaven forbid I have one drink. Goes right to my face, never mind my head! So I guess everyone can tell I'm havin'a flash! I just tell most people I'm warm but my family knows! huh.gif
CSugarGrove
mrsb, have you actually looked in the mirror to see if you're red? Sometimes we feel like our face is red, but it's not that noticeable to others. Can your family tell? If you've been like that your whole life, maybe it's not from meno. I always got red when I was embarrassed. Still do, but it feels different than a hot flash.

Alcohol definitely triggers flashes, as does smoking, spicy food, STRESS (a guarantee for me--I have flashes even when I THINK about something stressful).

However, I also have flashes for no reason. I always have a couple in the evening when I'm relaxing and watching TV. No apparent cause. I wondered if it was from a bad TV show, but I don't think so. smile.gif
DaMomma
Hey I go again!!! Tired, but now cant sleep! I even took half a xanax and a whole trazodone! blink.gif

Get this too, I had been trying to sleep..and all of a sudden, I got soaked! It wasnt a hotflash,..it literally could see the sweat coming up on my skin! No, Im not taking other drugs either...my lands what a body we live in eh?!
KellyG
Wow and I thought I was all alone. I can’t tell you how wonderful it is to see I was not in a boat by myself. I don’t know about you but my husband has been trying and trying to find me a way to help with the night sweats... I think he was getting about as much sleep as I was. sad.gif All the tossing and turning and kicking off the sheets only to get cold then hot and back again. One day we sat and talked about it for a long time trying to explain to him what it was like. We stayed up a little too late, too much wine and too much more for him. And a funny thing happened on the way to morning. When we went to bed HE HAD NIGHT SWEATS... tongue.gif He finally saw what I was talking about. I guess it was from the wine. Oh well. Anyway it has been a while since I have had a night sweat thanks to my hubby, he found me some strange looking fan that fits at the foot of the bed an blows a gentle breeze between the sheets, it keeps me from having night sweats all night long... It is so nice. I just got it a few weeks ago, and getting adjusted to it took a couple nights but now I can say we are sleeping much better. I still have a hot flash or two at night but no sweating and no more sleepless nights. biggrin.gif So if you want to find some good help.. Just give him a little wine and see what he will come up with… But I am still dealing with all these others symptoms so that is why I am here….
DaMomma

I am brand new to this site and found it by accident because I was curious if the memory foam mattress caused night sweats. About a year ago I started with the night sweats and hot flashes. For those of you who commented about faces turning red, mine always start with my face and neck getting hot and then my ears turn red and feel like they are on fire. Its quite an amusing sight to see!!! My gyn tried me on HRT and about 4 other hormones and while it made the night sweats go away all of a sudden I was having periods again every two weeks. After about 5 months of that nonsense I stopped taking the hormones and my periods went away. Its now been 5 months period free but once again the night sweats have returned. I removed the memory foam last night and it seemed much cooler for me. I am already sleeping without the heater on and a ceiling fan on all night. This appears to be a wonderful site with tons of information so I am looking forward to reading all of it.
