Ok, I have looked through this forum and cant find this. Am I nuts or is there a difference between a "Natural Progesterone cream" and a "Progesterone Cream" ?
I bought some thinking it was the natural one, but in looking at the label, it does not appear to be "natural". ( It doesnt use that word anyplace on the label.) Is there both kinds (synthetic and natural) and if so , what exactly is the difference in safety of use, dosage, etc.
I had a hysterectomy 15 years ago, ( total ) and 2 mos ago decided I had had enough of the premarin thing and just quit it cold turkey. Been hot flashin and night sweatin like crazy! Just looking for some relief!!!
Thanks for any help. I am soooo glad to have found this site. I have been going out of my mind dealing with this meno stuff.

The "natural" progesterone cream versus progesterone cream may be the same thing. If you are buying it over the counter, it couldn't be a progestin (the UNnatural kind of progesterone).
However, it must be called "USP" progesterone somewhere on the ingredients or your body will not use it. USP is when they convert the yam or soy into a bio-identical progesterone at the laboratory. The body can't convert wild yam, etc. into progesterone, so it has to be USP.

Thank you, I will check on the USP thing. I dont remember seeing that either, but I imagine they couldnt sell it otherwise. Its actually a Rexall brand and is called "Progesterone Cream".
Appreciate the response. Thanks

They sell it all of the time, but it is worthless, as far as the body using it as progesterone.

Walmart just stole 12.00 of my money then. It doesnt say USP anyplace on it. Well, lesson learned I guess.

Sierra, try to return the cream. WalMart is usually easy for returns (at least the one I go to is).
Anyway, expect to pay much more than $12 for a good cream. An average sized jar with 20 mg. progesterone costs closer to $30 (unless you find a deal on the 'net). I used to use ProGest, which is one that has been used for clinical studies. But there are some other good ones; I just can't remember the names (FemGest was one).

I have been reading that wild yam cream isn't worth spending money on....that the body cannot convert wild yam into progesterone....has anyone used the yam cream and had any benefits from it?

You're right, wild yam can't be converted to estrogen or progesterone by the body. However, I use it sometimes (when I remember!) because I read it can help with chronic pain. I haven't noticed any results though.

I hadn't heard it helps with chronic pain.....i may try some for that specific reason.Do you think you may notice some benefits if you used it regularly rather than sometimes?

I'd say there's a fair chance it could help, because there was a small study done and many of the participants said they had at least some relief.
I just can NOT seem to remember to take it for some reason
