Hi I am almost 40,and things are going wrong left and right. I have endo, fibroid tumors, and cyst on my ovaries.Even though I have had these thing for years, just recently I am having symptoms. It started two years ago with spotting after sex. I had tests done on my cervix, and everything came back fine. Then my periods started to come every 22 days, and I spot for 4 days before it kicks in. The period is rather light. Now I have started spotting sometime betweem periods, light pink discharge. I have been going t the doc every two months to check on my cysts, and had lots of tests done. Some months I am symptom free. Even though I am always at the docs, I am afraid I must have cancer and they are missing it. My cycles have always been so normal, these changes are really freaking me out!!! Any one out there going through this? HELP!! Alice

Hi girls,
Yep fun times! I'm 52 1/2 years old. Always had long, heavy periods, fibroids. This month my period was very light, but lasted all month. It's really mostly light spotting. I went to the acupuncturist today (he was a surgeon in Hong Kong) and said it's the fibroids aggravating things. I can't take hrt (not that I want to) because I'm on blood thinners. I take herbal supps, vitamins, noni juice and seasilver. I can sympathize! lol

I can relate to that. My periods have been fairly normal on when they start but they have really changed. I basically have spotting for a couple of days and then the flood gates open for one full day, then back to spotting for the total of a 7 or 8 day period. I'm 52 1/2 and wondering if this is ever going to stop. One Dr. put me on HRT, I had problems with continual spotting and then another Dr. told me no HRT because of family heart problems. Due for my anual check up next month, can't wait to hear what yet another new Dr. says. At least she is a female!!! I've had all kind of symptoms, night sweats, some hot flashes, insomnia, etc. Ain't life great!

I am 50 and I know that perimenopause has been haunting me for about 8 years...however, I had a period 2 weeks ago and it lasted a day! Yes..one day. Then bammmmm...2 weeks later I was hit with a period that I never had before. The bleeding concerned me as I have never ever had such a heavy flow. I had myself all worked up in spite of all I have read and expecting this could be a possibility as what may be considered "normal"...but it still concerns me. I went through more tampons than I would normally go through....I feel better reading the messages but it is still a bit unnerving yes?

Yup I fully understand. I have always been regular and in my late forties my periods started to be lighter and lighter and then when I turned 52 I am 54 it started like the floodgates opened. I went to the ER twice, they resassured me. Didn't work. Now they started to come missing a few and now back to on time. Will my period ever go away drs says yes LOL became afraid and obsessed by it because of the flooidng that occurred for approximately 5 -6 months

thanks for your response. it can be quite scary....i started taking iron now!
i spoke with other women at work and they all concurred....even the consistency of the bleeding had changed...it seemed more like blood rather than mixed with other fluids. i think that is what concerned me the most but i am feeling more reassured...and...my period from hell has stopped. for now.

Power-Surge and message boards are new to me, so please forgive me if I don't do this right.
I am 45 year old and I am having a lot of problems right now with my period. I think a lot of it has to do with stress.
Can Stress bring on perimenopause?
I had breast tenderness for at least 2 weeks before I started spotting. Actually it was time for my period but it just didn't seem to come normal. Then last week the flood started. Everytime
I stand up I can feel it gush. It is a terrible feeling! It has been a week now and it is still happening. I have the fear it is going to last forever. From reading this
board I realize I have a lot of the other
symtoms. My vagina has been dry for months. Sex can be very unpleasant for this reason. I don't seem to be interested in it like I use to. In the last week I have had the Mood Swing and Anxiety and also lightheadedness.
Sometimes at work I feel like I don't know what I'm doing! I guess I'll be visiting the doctor real soon. Not looking forward to that. I just hope they can help me!

Susie,
Over the last 6-8 years or so (I am 50 now) I experienced the miserable feelings of foggy head, as I called it. It was very scary at times and there were times that I felt like I was either very ill...or I was going crazy. Stress, I believe makes the symptoms worse but I can tell you that what really helped me was using the Revival Soy Drink...I found articles on this website and it really did help. I also take flaxseed oil each day. I drink about 1 tablespoon in OJ. I am a true believer in a natural approach. I am going through wierd periods now but the other symptoms were more disturbing. Foggy head, fatigue, mood swings, sometimes feeling like I could not concentrate, and breast tenderness that lasted a whole month at times. YUCK What also really helped me is taking in as much reading material as I could. It really helped me realize that what crazy symptoms I have and still do experience are those of many women. This website was a wonderful find for me too. Take care
