I know my symptoms are hormone related but I just can't seem to get them under control. I'm thinking of taking the huge step of going to TX and seeing Dr. Eliz. Vliet. Anyone have any experiences?

Hi, engel and welcome to Power Surge. You've come to a great place to learn all about menopause and how to deal with it's many symptoms here. These boards, as supportive, active and wonderful as they are, are only a small part of an enormous award-winning Web site. Dearest, our host and founder, works many hours every day to keep the most current information on menopause and other midlife issues available for us. There's so much valuable information on the site. For example, there are some basic introductory articles, such as Power Surge's Menopause Survival Tips, and What's A Hot Flash? and About Your Hormones and a comprehensive explanation of menopause in What Is Menopause? Signs, Symptoms and Treatments , Midlife Sexuality, Relationships / Vaginal Dryness and many, many others including, of course, Being The Best You and the ever popular RECOMMENDATIONS AREA. You'll want to read through the wonderful articles that go into detail about estrogen, progesterone, testosterone, DHEA and other hormones; depression, panic attacks, heart issues, phytoestrogens, exercise, mood swings, weight and vaginal issues, dealing with anger and mood swings and much, much more in the Educate Your Body and Newsworthy areas -- and don't forget the hundreds of transcripts in the library of some of the most prominent names in the area of women's health! Although I haven't seen Elizabeth Lee Vliet, M.D., Dearest has had her as a Guest Speaker several times. You can read the transcripts of those visits starting with the first transcript with Elizabeth Lee Vliet, M.D. Welcome to Power Surge!

engel- I think if you can afford it, go for it. I would love to go to a well know specialist but just don't have that kind of cash. Luckily, I think I found someone who knows their stuff. I had to twist his arm to work with Pete but he is and I am taking both of their advise. I think I may have made my new Dr a little upset because I told him the Clamara patch he gave me wasn't enough to help the panic and that I wanted natural micronized progesterone not sythetics. And I wanted separate pills not a combined dose so we can tweak them better. Well at least he is still talking to me. Sandy Sandy
