Hi, I'm new to this, never posted a message on a board before. I'm only 30 have had surgery for endometriosis (last year) had alot of pain and problems from endo for alot of years and still do but not as severe as before my operation. I still have all my bits :-) anyway over the last 4 months something new and wierd is happening to my body. I've always weighed around 53kg apart from when I was pregnant but over the last few months I've suddenly shot up to 61kgs all put on in the thigh stomach bum region. I look like I'm 5 months pregnant after I eat, I've lost most of my waist I get nausea/gagging off and on just like morning sickness. My periods, which have always been every 28 days and last 7 are now only lasting 3 days day 2 being so heavy I don't leave the house. The last one was a week early and very heavy I spent 4 hrs in the bathroom going back and forth from the toilet to the shower passing clots and gushing had to wear a towel to bed ohhh so sexy, pads and tampons are useless. I'm so grumpy and tired all the time my poor hubby calls me psycho woman my kids think I'm mental I have permanent PMS I've lost all my patience. I've always been able to sleep at night but for 2 months have been waking suddenly about an hour after going to sleep and usually a few more times during the night, once drenched in sweat and other times just feeling very hot, I dream alot. I also wake with a very thick throat, can't swallow so keep crackers and water beside the bed to stop me gagging. Sometimes during the day I get a bit of a tickle in my throat my saliva gets very thick and my head turns into what feels like a big ball of fire, doesn't last long but is very embarressing especially if you're talking with somebody. Have had blood tests for thyroid and diabetes all were fine. I'm not pregnant but thats exactly how I feel some days. So I'm wondering if maybe I'm just depressed/anxious and I have some strange new endometriosis symptoms or is it possible I'm starting this perimenopause thing, am I way way too young??? would love some feedback from someone older and wiser xxx

It's possible that you're entering the peri phase. Mine started around 35 when I got the periods from hell. I can relate to the towel thing. I didn't nothing of it until each year after 35 I started to acquire new peri symptoms. Here I am at 42 in the midst or tail end of peri. My mom's periods completly stopped at 40 and my sis at 45, so I believe I'm on the threshold of menopause.
How old were was your mom and aunts when they went through menonpause? That could be an indication of when you'll start.
Take care and hang in there!

First of all, I think you should see a doctor if you haven't already. Secondly, you do have many of the symptoms of peri.
And finally, I wonder if your endometriosis has reappeared. I have no knowledge of how this works, but I'm wondering if it's covering your ovaries and affecting their ability to function in some way. Certainly the towel thing you have to do with your periods could be caused by endometriosis. And I wonder if that is a factor with your weight gain around the abdomen. Another thing might be a fibroid tumor. I had a huge one -- about 15 cm.
So see your doctor immediately. Please take care and let us know the report. Aside from being interested in your well-being, it might be informative for others.

Kim...
Yes it could be peri, but first rule out anything else.
I can definately relate to the clotting and flooding. I can go thru 20 overnight pads in 5 hours....even at night when I'm laying in bed! So, I have about 2-3 days of flow and 4 days of spotting.
I have also gained the stubborn pounds around my waist and hips and thighs. I am only 35, but I first started noticing changes a few years ago.
Hang in there.

Thanks for your responses, I know my grandmother went through early meno but not this young. I am going back to my doctor this week, he said to come back if my blood tests were ok, he wanted me to have an ultrasound. I'll let you know the outcome. Thanks again xxx

Hi Kim, I'm glad your going back to the doctor, I tell you not all thryoid test are equal. When I was 33 I had many of your symptoms and worried about my thyroid. I could just feel a lump in my throat, mostly when I swallow. My TSH was normal, I did not know at the time that the TSH is not a complete thyroid test. Anyway I bug & bug my doctor and finally he gave in and order a scan. Make a long story short I had thyroid cancer. Different between now and then is the mood swings. I never had then with the thyroid problems. But I was soooo tired and my periods where off, also like now. Just remember one thing if you feel something is wrong, Don't give up! If I would had trusted my doctor I don't know where I would be at today. Go with your gut!
