I am starting to feel like a hypocondriac or something. I am having problems with my stomach lately, it feels like it is on fire and I have..how embarrassing...alot of gas. I had pizza one night and it started, gas, mucous coming out, I still don't have this under control... I no longer have the mucous at the moment, but still have the feeling that my stomach is on fire.I am trying to give this a few more days before going to the doctor, which by the way, I no longer have my internist since he moved, and there is another dr. there taking his place, I am not comfortable with this. I am in South Carolina, and the health system here is just horrible. We are here just two years from northern NJ, there is such a difference where healthcare is concerned. Any suggestions would be appreciated on what I can do to get some relief.

Hi Jilie, I to have been having the "fire" pain. On me, its in the center of my chest, but more towards my stomach. For me I think its like heartburn. I just started having it real bad this year. Never before. It seems to come on me really strong the week before my periods, anything I eat seems to get me sick, esp. at night. What helps is getting the little purple pill, mine is called nexium (I think thats spelled somewhat right) The pill stops all excess acid. It helps with bloating and gas. I don't take the pill everyday like I should, I just take it in the AM if I feel its gonna be a bad day for my stomach, sometimes it even takes a couple days to take effect if its really flared up. Of course its always best to eat light, but when mine flares up, it seems everything bugs me. I get so tired of the pain, when it comes, I've tried several Tums, but nothing helps so I just go to bed. I usually feel better by morning. Ain't that just lovely. I guess its part of "peri", but check with your doctor. I feel for ya, its not fun, take care and try to relax, stress doesn't help!!!! Love, Juliann

Hi Jillie - I'm in the same boat as you. I'm thinking the mucus is maybe caused by a food allergy/intolerance - like milk, sugar, or something like that. Just experimenting right now. I feel your pain!

My daughter who suffers from IBS struggles with pizza too. I can't eat it as I get heartburn. I have suffered with IBS for the last two years (before that I had a nervous tum when I was anxious it was off to the loo for me!). I can't eat shellfish, cream and have had to cut back on onions as I would get terrible stomach cramps and gas. I take a good multivit/mineral each day and B complex (not every day) and have been taking a digestive enzyme which I think has helped a bit. IBS sufferers have a B shortage I've read. There's a lot of this discussion on another thread I think???
