I have been using Revival for over a year now. The difference that it has made in how I feel is unbelievable. I have a bar every single day for breakfast and I am also using Progesterone cream. I feel like my old self again. Anyway, lately i have been feeling very "gassy" .. i wonder if it is from the REVIVAL? but all of a sudden, it never seemed to bother me before? any comments???????? I will live with this if i have to cuz I won't quite REVIVAL....LOL......Pudge

Me too. I ordered the digestive enzymes which helped. I've had a question in to Revival about the calcium and calcium oxolate content in the bars/shakes since I've had kidney stones again and haven't received an answer yet. I stopped using Revival after that and I miss feeling "good" again. Went to the new urologist today and am going to start back on 1/2 bar a day with using the enzyme pills to help with the gas. I felt so much better while using the Revival that I think it's worth the chance of using it again and cutting it down to 1/2 a bar a day. I am also going to order more of the chocolate covered soy nuts (I LOVE those) but will have to watch myself or I'll eat them all in 2 days. I plan on just bringing a handful to work each day instead of the entire bag !! I hope this helps, Tina wink.gifwink.gif

I was never too bad with the revival either, until I recently hit a stressful time (dog sick, kids went off to college, lots of weird things happening all at once) and I got a bout of somehting I often get, that I just call tummy troubles. It is IBS or cholitis or somehting--I don't go to the doc about it, it is just a touchy stomach I've always had. Well. I noticed after I'd eat the soy, I REALLY began to cramp and have gas and some diarrhea, etc. I did what I saw some people suggest here at PS, and divided up the bar into 3 thirds and ate them spread out over the day. Helped a lot.

I was so gassy the first few days I thought I would die!

Then after the third day, it just Stopped!

I am so enjoying my shakes now. NO stomach upset whatsover!

I got the vanilla and the cappucino splenda versions. Love em both, sometimes I mix half and half!

If I'm at work, I just get a small thing of lowfat choc milk to mix with! YUM!

I was about to buy the enzymes, but I guess I dont have to!

warm alohas,
Lolly

Hey ya Pudge! Glad to see you! Been quite a while since I've seen you around P/S!!
I don't use Revival but sure can relate to the gassy stuff out of the clear blue sky. Been driving me batty lately. When I did use Revival it never caused me to be gassy. (I used it for about a year). I think the 'whole gassy thing' is part of this menopause mess. So many women our age complain about it.
Sorry I couldn't help you further but wanted to say HELLO TO YOU~! Hope you're doing well! wink.gif
HUGS!

Hi to all and especially my buddy Kleeo......It has been a while for me....I have been doiing very well lately.....I am still using my Progesterone cream and eating REVIVAL daily.......I have to say i feel really good......I do check in with PS often but most of the time i don't post. When i read something that i can relate to or that i have experienced i do feel the need to put my "two cents in" especially if i can help another who is going through this peri stuff........I am sticking with the Revival for now. it really seems to be helping me. I have lots of energy and just a feeling of well being. Hang in there everyone it does get better. Hugs to all.Pudge

Hello all, I have just started using Revival this week. I always wondered what people meant when they said they had that feeling of "well-being", well now I know. That's exactly how I'm feeling. Since it's only been a week I'm hoping to get even more results the longer I use it, like maybe more energy......that would be nice!!!! I can't get over how good the shakes are and those chocolate covered soynuts are to die for!!!
Pudge
I love the bars....I used to drink the shakes but now i find the bars are easier. I have a half between my breakfast and my lunch and the other half in the afternoon.....I love the chocolate peanut butter crunch.......It satisfies my chocolate craving during the day......
Revival is expensive, but when we break it down it comes out to a a little over $2.00 per day.....I used to spend that on coffee every morning. To me, it is worth every penny........I stopped taking it for a couple of weeks and I definitley could feel the difference, i had no energy.......I am working out 4 times a week now and walking....I feel really good. (hope it lasts).............Pudge

(((PUDGE!))) It is so encouraging hearing that you are feeling GOOD! Gives me something to look forward to! That is wonderful....I am SO happy for you! Sounds like the revival is really perfect for you! Hopefully in the near future I will be right there beside you - but for now, I feel PERIMENOPAUSAL!! LMBO!

Sure was good to see you pop in - keep us posted on your progress! Miss seeing your posts, but sure are glad that you have reason to NOT be prowling around a menopause board! HUGS TO YOU BUDDY!

Pudge,

You mention that your favorite bar is the chocolate peanut butter crunch. Is that the low carb version? If so, did you recently change to low carb from regular bars? If that is the case, the problem may not be the soy, but 2 of the ingredients in the low carb bars. The low carb bars contain the sugar alcohols maltitol and sorbitol. These sugar alcohols are found in many low carb products and cause gastrointestinal upset in many individuals. If you look at the label on some of the low carb candies they even have a warning regarding this. I learned (the hard way) that I cannot tolerate maltitol and sorbitol. I was eating some low carb bars with these ingredients and had a lot of problems. I finally figured it out and switched to Atkin bars sweetened with splenda and the problem was gone. Needless to say, splenda does not cause the problem. So any of you who are eating the low carb bars and noticing gastrointestinal problems, may want to see if the problem disappears when you eat the regular bars. Here's what I found on one web site regarding sugar alcohols.

"Sugar alcohols are slightly lower in calories than sugar and do not promote tooth decay or cause a sudden increase in blood glucose. The sugar alcohol Maltitol is about 90% as sweet as sugar, non-carcinogenic, and significantly reduced in calories. Maltitol is especially common in the production of low carb sweets, including sugarless hard candies, chewing gum, chocolates, baked goods and ice cream.

"Maltitol is slowly absorbed. Therefore, when maltitol is used, the rise in blood glucose and the insulin response associated with the ingestion of glucose is significantly reduced.

However, like mannitol, sorbitol, and other sugar alcohols, maltitol is often associated with increased flatulence, digestive upset, and other gastrointestinal symptoms."

Hope some of you will find this information helpful.

I am having horrible problems with IBS. I bought the revival drinks but am concerned about trying it because I don't need anymore gas. I already have that and at times I swear I look like I'm pregnant and it is just bloating. Anyone with IBS using the revival with no problems?
MaryO
Gramz, I don't have IBS, but I know that it's recommended for people who do have gas to sip the Revival slowly throughout the day, or if you have the bars, to just eat smaller portions, a little at a time.

Best of luck to you!
Gramz
Thanks Mary.....I am going to try that.

Hi ~

Thought I would pass the on to ya'll - bout feeling gassy on Revival Soy. I, too, experienced gas when I first started the Revival. It took me quite a while - and one awful gas experience - to sit down and think this through. When I was done, I thought: Maybe it's the milk? Maybe I have a lactose intolerance?

So, off to the store I went. I looked around and left with this stuff called Rice Dream. It's sold by the Soy milk stuff. I also bought some soy milk. Welll, I hated the taste of the soy milk with my Revival. But! Yum, it was delisious with the Rice Dream and.... NO GAS! Haven't had the gas with Revival since then.

Also have experimented with Almond Milk but... it had more calcium than the Rice Dream (which only has 2%). Since the Revival already has so much calcium , and I tend towards kidney stones, I have to balance all that out and have settled for the Rice Dream.

Sometimes, if I have the Revival for supper, I add a little bit of frozen vanilla yogurt. Yummy and thickens it a bit! I'm into the Chocolate Dream Revival, myself.

Also, I drink a large glass of water after my Revival shake.

Hope this helps those of you who have gas with the Revival.

PS: wink.gif just discovered the soy pasta chips. A sample came with my last order. Oh my goddess they are lovely! Especially the plain ones. And only 1 g of sugar, not much sodium and negligible fat.

Gramz:

Just to reply to your concerns about revival soy causing gas. I, myself, seem to suffer from the same problems you have - gas almost every time I eat and my tummy swells up looking like I am pregnant, I know how you feel. I started soy revival a few months ago and have had no additional problems with gas then I normally do and have had positive results from the product. It's worth a try ! Good Luck, CAT-E
Gramz
Thanks Cat-e. I'm using the revival and so far I don't see that I am any more gassy than ususal. However if I use the low calorie soy bars I'm doubled over with horrible gas. I mean to the point that I'm miserable with the pain from it. So I just stay away from them and use the shakes only and I have no problem.
MaryO
Gramz, if you like the bars, did you try splitting them up throughout the day like you would with the shakes?

Personally, I found the bars to be to easy to grab whenever I was hungry, so I just get the shakes.
Madge
Hi, Gramz...

I've tried Revival a number of times as well as the bars, etc. But I was never able to tolerate it without horrible gas and many trips to the bathroom. Even tried taking just small amounts during the day. No luck. And I gave it several weeks' trial. But I have IBS, so I'm sure that's part of the problem.

Also, for some strange reason, I get very warm and sweaty when I eat any kind of soy, or chocolate. Guess it's just not for me.

Revival products are great for a lot of people, but I just can't handle it. Too bad, because the products are delicious.

Does anyone know if Revival causes Depression?
I know this sounds crazy but someone told me that it
caused her to have depression.
Can Anyone comment on this?

Thanks

Angel
MaryO
Angel, I've always felt better, less depressed, on Revival. I've been on it for maybe 6 or 7 years (or more?)

Angel:
I have been using Revival products for about 4-5 months--absolutely no depression and, generally---I believe that the soy has helped me a lot. I used to get my own version of hot flashes----hot thighs---I mean HOT---but only when I went to bed at night. This would be very uncomfortable (since my feet were usually freezing) and I would not get any sleep. But---since using Revival, this symptom has pretty much disappeared for me....
