hello to all
I have read some posts from a good while back and saw that there were people from power surge that used Dr Erika. I am wondering if there is anyone that is currently using her, or has more recently used her. I am really considering the telephone consultation. I had DCIS in 2001 and my doctor will not even consider giving me any hormones. She does not have a clue about biodentical hormones......I read Dr Erika's transcripts and see where she does work with patients that have had breast cancer. Anyway. I would love to hear some recent experiences! Thanks Jean M

Hi Jean
I have used Dr. Erika before. Right now I am currently using a new doctor that came to our town and seems to know about bioidenticals. I liked Dr. Erika and would use her still if I didn't have anyone close by. I liked the hormones that Natural Hormone Pharmacy sent because they where in syringes. You use half in the morning and half at night then throw the syringe away. No measuring or messy stuff. It's worth a try for you I believe.

Thanks for the reply! Did you actually speak with Dr Erika or someone in her office? Are there any requirements for how many months supply that you have to buy at once? Any info appreciated! I am getting desperate!

I actually spoke to Dr. Erika the first time and she was really nice. Then later I talked with an assoicate several times. Dr. Erika was out with a family emergency. I talked with a Dr. Levada I believe. The original prescription is for 6 months and the Natural Hormone Pharmacy will send your hormones once a month. If you need an adjustment you call back and they make the adjustment so you need to call before they send out your new months supply. Sometimes if it doesn't feel just right they will tell you to use less of the syringe a day or more, depending on your symptoms.
My next months supply always arrived before I ran out so that worked really well. I didn't have to call for it unless I needed to make an adjustment in it.
I paid $100.00 for the consultation but when I talked with Dr. Levada for adjustments they didn't charge me anything. You might want to ask about that when you call just to make sure. My insurance did not pay for my consultation with Dr. Erika but it did pay 80% on my hormone prescriptions.
Hope that helps.

You can get a list of names of doctors in your area who prescribe bio-identical hormones from
Power Surge's pharmaceutical consultant, Pete Hueseman, R.Ph., PD -- he's been with Power Surge for over 8 years and is wonderful to work with. You can read
additional information here.
Pete is a co-owner of Bellevue Pharmacy, which has been in business for approximately 70 years. He's been compounding bio-identical hormones for many years -- long before it became "popular."
As for Dr. Erika Schwartz, her Natural Hormone Pharmacy no longer exists.

Thanks Dearest!! The problem is I have already got several list and Pete has emailed me some articles, but there are NO doctors around here that are even openminded about breast cancer and "biodentical hormones". My dr says a hormone is a hormone...I told her she should read some of the things I have been reading...progesterone is protective against breast cancer.
As far as Dr Erika, since her pharmacy is closed, will she still write prescriptions that can be filled at other compounding pharmacy's?? Again thanks!

Jean,
I went to the Natural Hormone Pharmacy website and they said all of their prescriptions had been moved to another pharmacy. I don't recall the name. So you can still get the hormones. Also, for some reason I thought that Pete had a Dr. that could write the prescriptions if there wasn't a Doctor in your area. Maybe I was wrong about that. But, you might ask him.
Good Luck

I have never heard of the pharmacy she's dealing with and Power Surge doesn't recommend anything with which, nor anyone with whom it's not familiar. Dr. Erika Schwartz only compounded one type of bioidentical combination, estradiol and progesterone, in one form - cream.
Jean's problem is not obtaining the hormones, it's finding the doctor to write the prescription. Pete Hueseman used to provide a house doctor when womens' own doctors wouldn't prescribe bioidenticals. However, I don't know if he's doing that any longer. The only way to find out is to ask Pete directly. It's as simple as calling Bellevue Pharmacy at: 1-800-728-0288 or
E.mailing Pete, or ask him in the
Ask The Pharmacist area.
