Hello again fellow surgers:
I live above a couple who chain smoke every 2 to 3 minutes out on their patio and/or in front of their front door. I get little to no ventilation as I can't open any windows for fresh air. (complained lots). Told that management has smokers outside the apts to keep from re-painting. (grrrrr) I have noticed on days that the smoke is thick and the scent is really bad my "hot flashes" feel more severe and last longer. Perhaps the added stress this causes by having to deal with the inconsiderate neighbors and management. Is this all in my mind or is this another meno "trigger" concern? If there is anyone out there who has ever experienced this or smokes and notice greater symptoms while smoking, please let me know. Thanx

I've heard smokers go into menopause
earlier. I find that when I'm aggravated
or anxious my flashes increase. This
could be a factor, since you feel unable
to change the your living situation.n
Can you move????

Could be anxiety that's giving you the flashes if it's something that's irritating you. Have you tried using an air purifier or ioniser to improve air quality?
I hate tobacco smoke too. It's banned in many places too but you have run through a fog to get into places.
I feel sorry for smokers as it was once considered cool to smoke but when you think you are breathing in someone elses (what amounts to) breath... well it's yucky really!

Oh yes, I have tried the purifiers and every other aparatus to alleviate the smoke. Yep stress is probably it. I am in the process of trying to move as we speak. Thanx for the responses fellow surgettes!..
