I am currently in perimenopause. I have been having hot flashes pretty bad on and off for the last 30 months or so. I have a question. Does anyone out there ever get weak spells? Today I have had hot flashes on and off all day. I was out in our yard cleaning it up. All at once I felt real warm and then I got shakey, weak feeling. I have had this happen before. A couple of times my sister-n-law and myself were out walking and I would feel as if I was going to pass out. The feeling is like when you get real hungry and if you don't eat you'll pass out. Any ideas?

Hi Nanna, I have had that weak feeling before. Almost feels like my blood sugar gets low or something; I get lightheaded, weak, and just plain lousy feeling. Sometimes if I really over-do, I will feel like that. And not eating will make me feel the same way...hypoglycemic or something. But make sure you mention it to you doc, it's better to make SURE it's caused from your meno and nothing else!!

Oh Nanna, your post brings back memories of when I used to get those weak feelings really bad. Still get those feelings now but not quite so bad. I've learnt to take things easy. I remember about a year ago..I was doing some painting..only for 20- minutes and suddenly I felt weak and shakey. I also fely this pressure all over my chest..that overall fatigue feeling. Scary and frustrating but a symptom Ive had too. Take care and Hugs Gez

Nanna, The feeling of warmth (Power Surge) and then weak and hypoglycemic (sp.) were my first signs of peri. - 2.5 years ago. Started one day when I was trout fishing! It was very scarey. Went to my Dr. a million times - went to the emergency room - went to Mayo Clinic. Nothing wrong with me they said - it will just pass with time. Here take these antidepressants to help with the resulting anxiety!! All they did was make me sick. With Natural HRT these symptoms have disappeared. Guess it was my hormones afterall! Boone

Nanna, YES I have the weak spells, in fact they are one of my scariest symptom. Most of the time they comes with PMS. I can see now why Doctors don't look forward to woman our age as patients. The only thing that helps me doing the weak spells is just give in and go rest and wait for it to pass. Boone> I hear you girlfriend! Last year after seeing my family doctor 24 times, I went to a neurologist-psychiatrist-endocrinolgist-rheumatologist- NOT counting all the appointment to a oral surgeon for a bad case of TMJ. OPPS I forgot the several trips to the ER! After running tons of tests their answer was to give me antidepressants, which made me feel worse. It was a BAD YEAR! I used to see my family once or twice a year and then have my pap and that's about it! BUT then the headaches hit and weak spells and the BODY ACHES, I don't need to go on>> you guys know! This year my goal is to stay away from doctors. I have seen my family doctor just once and my endo twice. I sure feel better just not having the stress of Doctor appointments. I just feel I need to ride this out! I have tried all kinds of medications even BCP's and NOTHING helps!
