Iam turning 50 and had a hysterectomy at the age of 37 because of fibroids. I am not sexually active but have been experiencing some brownish vsginal discharge just enough to be uncomfortable without pantyliner protection. I still have ovaries . Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Hi Wewon, This is the same problem I would get 3-5 days after ovulation. What I had was painful painful ovulation especially the right ovary. The discharge would be brownish to black and only last for a short time. I would try to walk it off but could barely move my right leg. There is a medical term for painful ovulation but I cannot remember the name of it. It's a German sounding syndrome. I hope this helps you. Tina wink.gifwink.gif

I get the same thing right around ovulation time, Tina. Same brownish-blackish 'crud', as I choose to call it. I have VERY painful ovulation cycles lately - annoying and frustrating. Seems like I have more pain during this than I do normal periods these days. Oh, woe is me! sad.gif I hate peri. Hugs! Kleeo

Although that has never happened when ovulating, it has happened at the beginning of many periods. It looked like dried blood, then I'd proceed into regular bleeding. Last period I had awful cramps. Back in the day, I never had cramps. Then again, I had enough miserable PMS to make up for it. Now, both perpetual PMS/aka Peri, and killer cramps. Add me to the woe is me list. I also get cramping, which I suspect may start after ovulation. This cramping goes on intermittently for weeks, but is tolerable.

I belive it was Tina who asked about the German-sounding name for painful ovulation. It's been a long time since I've heard it, but I think it's something like Mezzelshmertz (spelling is wrong but this is how it sounds, I think).

Mittelschmerz is literally "middle ache" and it happens around the time of ovulation - the middle of the cycle, at least in younger women who haven't started perimenopause yet. I had that for a long time, and it was a terrible pain. My first thoughts were that it was appendicitis.
