ohiomom
Hello, all smile.gif I'm new here, what an awesome place! I'm 38 (soon to be 39), and was on b/c pills briefly....went off them about 8 months ago, and started using natural progesterone cream. I had been experiencing spotting for 1-2 days right around when I felt ovulation should be occuring. I mentioned it to by gyn in January, she wasn't concerned. Last month, I had a transvaginal/pelvic ultrasound (I have one small fibroid), and that came back fine. Just a few days ago (at what should be ovulation) I spotted...no big deal. Then it stopped. Then started two days later. Then stopped. Then started two days later...for almost a week. Never a great amount, but it had never gone on this long. I'd become a little lax with my progesterone cream (ok...I forgot! ohmy.gif )....could I have thrown my cycle off that much? Am I too young for wild hormonal fluctutations like this? I've been to other boards where I've been told I'm too young for perimenopause. Am I? Thank you!!!! Lisa

Hi Lisa, I'm 44 and have experienced the same random spotting. Had it happen to me about a year ago, then it just happened to me this past month. Had my period start on Feb 14th (HAPPY Valentine's day!!! tongue.gif) and then mid cycle started a very light brown spotting. I assumed it was during my ovulation cycle. I do have small fibroids but not sure if that had anything to do with the spotting. I've heard lots of women say the same thing has happened to them, so I won't be too concerned about it right now. I have my yearly pap smear scheduled on April 29th and will mention it to me doc, but I do believe it's perfectly normal! HUGGERS! Kleeo

Thanks, Kleeo smile.gif I was just reading something else about spotting and progesterone cream...that the estrogen receptors might be too sensitized if too much progesterone cream is used........this could be my problem. I guess I'd better go back to the old measuring spoon, instead of trying to eyeball it! biggrin.gif Thanks for responding! Lisa

Yes, I think this is normal. At least when I told my doctor this was happening, she said it was. I am on the progest. cream also, and I never experienced spotting until I started using it. And also, my periods seem to go 2-3 days longer - not heavy, but light spotting. I use a half of the spoon they give me in the morning and at night. Maybe I should be using less??

I just turned 35 and I'm just beginning to walk down the path. I don't think my hormones care how old I am. biggrin.gif I use the Nat Prog. Cream too. Seems to help me .... when I remember it! LOL

Well............here's a new twist. No period after all that on again off again spotting.......I was taking my temp, and had the regular "ovulation spike".....and waited, and waited...and waited for my period...should have started on the 29th of March. Is this normal, too? Of course, there's a "slight (very slight)" chance I could be pregnant (and I only say that because I am sexually active)....but I wouldn't bet any money on it.
