Are any of you ladies suffering with allergies and having hot flashes at the same time. I don't know if I'am a whimp or what but right now I feel awful. Does this ever end. Before I started this Perimenopause I felt great. I can count on my fingers how many good day's I have in a month. I need some encouragement. Thanks.

Hi Nanna, I have hot flashes (not bad, YET!) and allergies both. Haven't really paid attention to whether or not I have them 'both' at the same time? And don't feel alone, when I am LUCKY enough to have one or two good days in a row? It's like I won the lottery or something! It's a tough road to hoe, for sure! Hang in there, you are NOT alone! Huggers! Kleeo

My doctor has me keep a calendar showing my symptoms and moods each day. I feel pretty lucky if I have more "G" days than "F" days is a month! I am praying for the time I have no "F" days!!! I know we can hang in there!!!biggrin.gif

Hi Ladies, I'v noticed lately that I now have allergies. This is something that has never bothered me before. I never thought about it being part of the "process". I also never thought about it coinciding with hot flashes. I have to start keeping track of that. Just thought I was getting old.tongue.gif

Allergic reactions can also cause a hot flash and mild fevers. Seems like there is no relief for those of us with peri and allergies at the same time! I have found that my allergy meds seem to help control the allergy flashes, so now I only have to deal with the POWER SURGES! biggrin.gif Michelle

I don't have hot flashes with sweat on my brow, mine is just more of a discomfort. It must not be too bad, 'cause I'm generally a real wimp about these things. I have developed an allergic reaction though. I don't know to what, but generally if I take an antihistamine sp? it will go away. I get welts all over [face, back, legs, arms] and itch like crazy. I wondered if it could be symptomatic.

It is symptomatic. In fact, itching is one of the commonest complaints during perimenopause. It can be hormone-related. It can be due to dry skin. Drinking lots of water can be helpful. It can also be connected to histamine levels and/or allergies, which are more common among women in any stage of menopause. Women develop itching, rashes, hives, welts, even wheezing and asthma during and after menopause. Lots of people don't know histamine levels are closely connected to hormone levels. You can read more about it on one of many discussions on itching and Hives</b? topic.

I didn't know that histimine levels are closely related to hormonal levels. That explains alot. Truthfully, I have felt that I have been going crazy with the itching and daily welts/hives. I've had the hives for many years but nothing like this. And I also have begun to wheeze, have watery, itchy, and sometimes burning eyes. My skin is oily since moving down here. I now have eyedrops for my eyes and benedry sticks for hives on my face/neck and spray for the rest of my body. Thanks for the relieving information ... Tina wink.gifwink.gif
