I am alone in this perimenopause thing. My mother passed away five year's ago. I started with perimenopause about 2 1/2 year's ago. The only thing that I can remember that she said was how sensative her skin would feel at times. I can relate to this as summer before last I would feel hot and my skin would feel as though I had pins and needles sticking in it. I guess this is what is called formication of the skin. I do have a question though about the hot flashes. When I have hot flashes my chest area and upon my neck ( sometimes face) turns red. Sometimes during these hot flashes I will get a headache. Does this sound normal? By the way I am 46 .

Hi Nanna,
It is common for your face to get flushed with hot flashes - my mom used to get beet-red, and it was very embarrassing to her. I haven't inherited this, thank God, but have heard others on the boards say they experience it.
I am very prone to headaches with perimenopause, and have to be careful on hot days in the summer, because the heat will ALWAYS trigger them. Perhaps this may be what's going on with you? Mine begin in the base of my skull, and throb into my head - they are miserable. The only thing that helps is Exedrin Extra-Strength. Hope this is helpful.
