Power Surge Forums > Board Discussions > Am I Starting Perimenopause?

I will be 43 this summer, my periods have stopped since last Dec. My periods have been extremely difficult for the past few years. (bed rest for at least 2 days) so I am very happy to be FINIALLY getting this overwith. I am experiencing night sweats, and I have gained 15lbs. I use my treadmilll 6 days per week for a min. of 30 min. per day. I haven't went to a Gyn. as of yet. But I am assumming that I am going thru Menopause. No matter how hard I workout I cant seem to loose an ounce, my diet is very healthy, (low fat, etc) We do not have medical insurance so a doctors visit is out of the ? right now, but could anyone possibly give me some suggestions or share a sim. experience? Thanks in advance..

Sherrie You may want to add some weight training to your program sinnce muscle burns more calories than fat. This may help jump start your metabolism. Good luck, EJ

Sherrie, Wj is correct concerning weight training and weight. I once did it regularly, but stopped because it seemed to cause chronic pain. I'll vow, again, too add a routine regimen of weight lifting to my schedule. I love to walk, but find weights BORING. Plus, although I know there are more important things on earth, but I'd like to avoid the flabby, inner arm sag.

Also, other positive attributes of weight lifting are prevention of osteoperosis and maintaining muscle strength, as we age.

Sherrie- are you watching your carbs?? For some reason, since turning 40- I am so carb sensitive. The only way for me to see any serious weight loss results is to cut them out. No white flour, no sugar, no pasta, no bread.
