I've pretty much taken care of the perimenopause other symptoms, but I still get pretty bad PMS symptoms such as moodiness/irritability, weepiness. Anyone take anything for this and what works for you at this time of the month??

Lisa,
I can relate to the pms type of symptoms...feels like I'm living my 20's again...so what to do? I try and cut back on caffeine, candy, red meat (which for me really aggravates my moodiness)...really up the water intake. I'm finding that this time around, most medications that are supposed to lessen the symptoms don't work for me. Best of luck!

Lisa- I used to get such bad PMS before I started drinking my daily shake of Revival. It hasn't taken it all away, and there are months worse than others, but overall my PMS has improved.
I don't think there is a sure-fire way to rid us of PMS entirely, and if there was, the person that discovered that would be a bizzillionare!
Sleep is really important too. REALLY important:D

Hi Lisa -- a couple of years ago I developed SEVERE PMS for about six months & my nurse practitioner wrote me a prescription with the name of a good multivitamin (she prescribed Solgar but she said any brand is okay as long as it is one of the name brands), a good calcium supplement, Vitamin B50 complex (all three B's -- I increased it to B100 on my own), and Vitamin E. (She also prescribed evening primrose oil but I can't take oil pills due to IBS). She made me promise to keep taking them every day for at least six months and said it could take that long to see results, but I started getting major relief in just six weeks . . . by six months my symptoms were mostly gone. Doctors had told me to "try" calcium before, but I never took it long enough, only a couple of weeks and decided it didn't work . . . she got it through my head to take them every day and I was amazed how well they worked!

In double blind studies Calcium does
help PMS. I get disabling PMS, which
nothing seems to remedy fully. Also,
I find keeping the blood sugar on
an even keel, by eating something
healthy, often, helps somewhat.
Then again, when I'm a sobbing,
panicked woman, I don't feel too
hungry. I swear this will either kill me,
or make me stronger. OY VEY~~~~~
I take so many vitamins. Soy, literally,
kills my sensitive gut. Oh, the IBS
another premenstrual problem.
Things get better, but ever so slowly.
It seems like two steps forward, one
step back.

Bless your heart Chriscarol, this won't kill you! And IN the event it does, then we are ALL right behind you! Even though there are times that we are SURE we won't make it through this, as Dearest says: THIS TOO, shall pass! And it will, SOMEDAY!

Soy really does bother your tummy, eh? So far I guess I've been lucky. It doesn't bother mine other than constipation, but I had that BEFORE adding the soy, so can't blame it on that. I do remember once though, a few years ago, trying soy and it did bother me, either that or something else was bothering me and I blamed it on the soy, so stopped drinking it. I'm thinking about trying a 'fiber' drink of some sort to help my bowels out a little. It's a pain in the butt (YIKES!) for sure!
Hang in there girl!!! We'll all be in our rocking chairs someday looking back at all of this and SMILING away, because WE MADE IT and men NEVER would have!

Huggers! Kleeo

Kleeo,
For constipation Metamucil, should
help. I can't tolerate that either, as
it gives me Major Gas. The list seems
to get longer of foods I can't tolerate.
Of course, they are healthy foods,
so go figure.
I couldn't fall asleep, until 5a.m.
Up and down, toss and turn!!
I hate not being well rested.
Hope things are fine in Maine!!
You hang in there, as well. Think
how relieved we'll be, as I hear
there is a calm after the storm of
Peri. I'll likely always carry some
anxiety, but this has been brutal.
Could be worse!! Thanks for
the support Kleeo!!!
