Has anyone every been told why their body is going into early menopause? Does anyone one here have or think early menopause may be linked to an eating disorder? thanks for any input you can give:)

I would think that early menopause could be triggered by anything that over-stresses your system. Does an eating disorder wreak havoc with your body's delicate chemical balance? Given enough assault, I would imagine that your hormonal balance would just finally poop out.

Thanks for your response. I kinda figured anorexia would trigger some kinda of consequence. I did not menstrate for 2 and half years. I was first diagnosed with the ED when I was 19. At the age of 21, my period returned. And since then, I've kept my weight up. So I was hoping, this could be something else. I'm in denial I guess. I'm only 30! My mother did not go into menopause yet at 50! She passed away in 1994 due to breast cancer. So she may have hit it at 51.

NotReady, Yep, sometimes we can do our best to mess up our bodies! Perhaps, if you begin rebuilding your body's defenses, and work hard to give it the proper nutrition and exercise, it will wake back up! I know that 46 isn't that unusual of an age for being in perimenopause, like I am right now, but I know that years of emotional stress have contributed to my condition greatly, so I guess the best we can do is try our best from now on to do what we can to be healthy. I am sorry to hear of your mom! sad.gif My condolences. It should be of utmost importance to you now to treat yourself the best you can and take measures to protect yourself from this killer.
