I am going to the Dr. this friday and want to be tested for peri-meno and for my thyroid. What test will be done? I am on my period now and it will be just about over on friday, will that matter? I have dizziness really bad for about 9 months now, sinus problems that i've never had before, VERY cold, dry skin and alot of headaches. I've had the cat scan done and mri and they are all normal. I think i'm in peri-meno...oh, I'm 41

Hi, Are you just having a blood test?. I was interested in what you said about cold skin. I get this, and would be interested to compare notes. My skin feels cold to the touch although I can feel hot inside. I am sure I have been going through peri for years, but all blood tests have shown nothing, so dont be suprised if tests are not conclusive. Looking forward to hearing from you Eliza

I think i'm having a blood test, but I keep seeing things on here about a silvia test so i'm going to ask for that also. By cold I mean always feeling cold! I used to LOVE winter, now I hate it and i'm freezing all the time. I even turn on the heat now and i never did before.

Im the same, but they say dont thet that you feel cold before you get all the hot flashes. I sometimes get patches of cold like one cold leg, or a cold back, and sometimes feel as if someone has poured cold water inside me do you get that?. Did you say you get cold skin?. Eliza

Newbie here.smile.gif As far as the test goes, this was my experience- First the Dr checked my liver, kidneys, and some other routine blood work. All came back excellent, so more blood was drawn. This time for thyroid and hormones levels. My estrogen level showed up too low. So he diagnosed me with 'early menopause'. My hands seem to be cold a lot. I'm definately more senative to a drop in tempeture. I also get these hotflashes when I'm sleeping. I wake up soaked and FREEZING. I've learned to keep an extra set of clothing by my bedside.

You say you are getting tested for menopause and thyroid. All done by blood tests, I think if your FSH is high then its possible that you are perimenopause, so I was told by my doctor. The blood test for your thryroid will also show if its underactive or overactive, I have these tests quite often hope this helps.

Deb I only just starting experiencing anxiety this past year. I find that it hits me out of the blue and it's usually worse right before I get my period. I wouldn't have believed that this is a symptom of peri but I'm a believer now. I would certainly chalk it up to hormones. Hopefully you'll find comfort in knowing that you're not alone. Have a great, calming weekend!
