My doctor told me there is a new procedure (can't remember the name, of course!) where they put in a baloon and fill it with hot water and cauterize the lining of the uterus. It takes ten minutes and drastically reduces monthly bleeding. Has anyone had this done?

No, I have not had this done, but a friend of mine did. She said it was wonderful! She had it done two years ago and has had no problems since then. They gave her an epideral and she is so glad she had it done. I wish I could remember the name of it. I think it was Tempa (Something) Oblation. She was told you couldn't have it done if you have fibroids.

My OB/GYN also said that thermal ablation is not a good option if you have fibroids. I guess the balloon doesn't form well around the fibroids. She suggested a good old D&C as an alternative, done by an experienced surgeon. MK
