hi there. i have been feeling this weird pressure in my upper chest and neck every night when i lay down for the past couple weeks and im wondering if anybody else is having it too? i do suffer from anxiety, which is alot better since i started natural progesterone cream. but the feeling is like i have to breath real shallow because my chest feels constricted and i cant take a deep breath without it feeling tight and uncomfortable. it does go away after awhile and i dont feel it again until the next night when i lay down. weird and scary. any responses would be appreciated. sue

Hello Sue -
That must be a scary, uncomfortable feeling for you....I personally have not had that perimenopausal symptom. It's strange that it only happens at night when you go to bed - hmmmm, and with anxiety - I wonder if it's connected to the anxiety...kinda like - every night you go to bed and worry (anxiety) if your going to have that pain again and sure enough - it comes back..... Have you checked with your family Dr. and had a complete check up? You may want to have that pain checked out with a Dr. and if everything comes out OK - then you know the pain is connected to anxiety and perimenopausal.... Also, having the pain checked out and knowing that your ok will probably stop the anxiety pain.... Oh my, that is a scary thing for you....

Hi Sudio, would gas explain your symptoms? These forums are full of women talking about digestive problems, trouble breathing, gas, IBS and other complaints. I also have had gas which causes various problems: bloating; pressing up against my throat so that it feels like there is a lump in it; pains in various spots; a feeling of it being hard to breath which passes with the gas. Lately I have low pelvic pain and bloating which comes and goes. Could this wierd and distressing symptom be due to digestive problems, I wonder. Still not sure.
Try lying on your left side or taking an anti-flatulent tablet or relaxing etc. to see if that gives symptomatic relief. A better fix is to attempt to find the underlying problem. That is the 20 million dollar question 'though. Keeping reading the posts other forums and see if that helps explain your symptoms. By all means discuss it with your doctor and if he/she tells you something helpful please post back because I'm sure lots of us would like to know. Women here try various things to help.
