I'm 45, still have regular periods though they are changing in duration...lasting longer it seems. I also am being treated for an anxiety/panic disorder and thought I had it all under control. But, occasionally, I get these feelings of faintness and mild nausea followed by a horrendous hot flash and heavy sweating. Sometimes the faintness is mild and I can just go on with my activities but other times the faintess is so bad I have to lie down. It lasts a few minutes, then passes. I'm so embarrassed to keep going back to the doctor since I'm a bit of a hypochondriac as it is. My friends tell me its hormones, but I don't know. I also just got rid of yeast infection which I NEVER have had problems with before...this ocurred 3 days into my period. I feel like some of the others who have posted ...I wake up each morning wondering how I'm going to feel. I have a pretty healthy lifestyle...try to walk 4 miles a day and maintain a healthy weight. Short of going to the doctor again, I don't know what else to do. Any words of advice?

Hi Georgiehopper I too get feelings of nausea and queasiness which I attribute to symptoms of perimenopause. Having experienced panic and anxiety in the past, of course those symptoms can be from that too. I found myself getting these nauseous and queasy feelings usually just prior to my period. My GYN put me on the pill about a year ago because she thought it would balance out the roller coaster of hormones that I was experiencing. It worked for awhile but I guess now that I am closer to everything, the pill is not helping the way it had in the past. If you've been the doc about these symptoms and they can't find anything wrong, chances are it's related to perimeno. Although it hasn't disappeared, it's comforting to know that it's not just me. Hopefully you can take comfort in that too. Take care, EJ PS Check out the thread for 34 symptoms of menopause. Is should explain alot.

I can relate to this too, georgie. I'm 45, and have had many symptoms since 38, but the faintness and queasiness is fairly new - last couple of years. Like you say, it's usually very brief, but can be almost disabling at other times. The nausea can be pretty bad for me. When I was first getting my periods - first 6-7 years - I'd get flu-like symptoms that often sent me to bed for the day. I think now that the hormonal tide is going out, I may be in for more of that! Where's my surfboard?!
