Hi all - I just had another question, as usual.  I have had hot flashes, and I have always disliked the heat.  Now I notice I sweat like a big old pig very easily.  Not only is it annoying and uncomfortable, I look awful cos all my makeup sweats off.  Is this the sign of some awful disease?(No fever, trust me I check). Or just another thing? Linda F

Linda, Hi!!

Oh Yeah!!I sweat very easily!! Have been for about a year now!! Yucko!!  I always loved the heat...but..no more:(All I have to do is sweep the floor...no big deal...or climb some low keyed stairs...and I'm off ta sweating!!

For the longest time I thought maybe it was my B/P meds or something...but...nope...it's menopause, my friend!! Argh!  Just another thing, we gals hafta put up with...'till it's over!!I say, 'till it's over"...cuz...it is getting better!! I don't start sweating now, 'till sweeping the floor and climbing the stairs back t' back :cheesy:

You'll find the other gals will agree!! It's a question I asked a few months back myself, and got all kinds of affirmations!! *Sigh* Take care my meno-sistah.....keep cool:cool::wink.gif

Yep Silly Goose is right , Linda. I used to have deodorant in the cabinet for months because I never sweat. Well, not anymore! Now I look for sales on deodorant. Also mine is getting better too. A pleasure to me and my fellow man probably .  I never had body odor like I did when my sweating was at it's worst. So , yep, just another one of the joys, we get to have smile.gif

Hugs, from swealtering Tahoe, jeanne

I know this is kind of a bizarre question but have you found a deodorant that actually works for you?  Since meno nothing seems to handle the job!!!  Thanks, Lori
Snowbird
Lori, Hi'ya!!

Good question!! I've gone through, (I think) every brand there is, since menopause:o:angry::oNevah...use to have that problem...now...it's a new challenge in my adventerous life:biggrin: THAT I DON'T NEED:angry:

I just keep trying different things...even going back to the old ones! They may work for a day or so...then...sigh....another change!!Luv ya......................................................................wink.gif

Yup - sweating here in Michigan, too.

As far as deodorants go, I'm like Snowy.  I keep 2 or 3 different kinds on hand, and switch off every week.  It's a terrible way to live, but oh well.  Also, Mitchum (the men's type, not the women's) works pretty well for me.  I switch that off with Secret Platinum.

jeanne
Boy this will make me sound really old , but my grandma used cornstarch to help with the odor problem and the sweating. It works pretty good as long as it is used where you don't end up looking like a powder puff everytime you move , lol. It's great in shoes, and on the upper body too . Help with heat rash also. Ok enough Farmer Almanac type treatments :biggrin:hugs , jeanne
Lori
Well thanks ladies for the input.  I myself keep 3 different kinds.  I even bought one for teens thinking since they are hormonal maybe it would work for meno women.  No such luck!!!  Well I don't feel so bad since we all seem to be doing it!!  I think I will check out some more.  I have gone back to old ones too.  Just one more thing!!LOL!!  Thanks, Lori

It's no wonder I have no self-esteem left; I have gotten fat, have no personality anymore, have gas (Revival), and sweat like a pig and have a dripping wet face and more than likely smell bad.  And I'm only 39!! I actually see people in the heat wave wearing jeans and light weight sweaters, and they are not dripping wet!! And I am in shorts and a t-shirt (Looking simply wonderful, I might add), and am a puddle!! Life isn't fair. Linda F

Hi Linda,Sorry you are having such a low point day. I have had many of them so I know it feels like crapola. Try wrinting down what is bothering you the most and what possible solutions there are to the problems.

You mention weight. Well , how about an aerobics class? Or maybe a walking routine with a friend? Whatever you find that will help you slim down. For the sweating problem, make sure the caffeine , spicy foods , and chocolates are kept to a minimum. The main thing is tio get control of your life and do the best you can to alleviate some of the things you have some control over. And then there is Power-Surge , where you can come and yell, scream, cry, get support, and a hug when needed. I know this won't be easy, but nothing seems to be easy if it's worthwhile. I know you can do  this , Linda smile.gifsmile.gif:)Hope this helps a little ,Hugs, jeanne

To Jeanne:  Keep chocolate to a minimum??!!??!!

To Linda - My heart goes out to you.  I know what it's like to have no self-esteem during this time of our lives.  The sweating in the awful heatwave (which, gratefully, has passed Michigan) is natural.  Those people in jeans are space aliens!!!  Space aliens do not sweat!!!  Humans do!!!  So rest assured on that matter.

Meanwhile, be good to yourself in the awful heat.  Stay in the air conditioning if at all possible - go to a mall (and oh darn, that would be awful, wouldn't it?!   )  Drink lots of water, iced tea, lemonade - anything to keep the insides cool.  And although Jeanne is totally wrong about the choclate, , she is right on about everything else - write down what is bothering you, and the possible solutions.  One of those solutions is bound to strike you as right for you.  And absolutely as she says, do come in to these boards to cry, moan, whine - whatever.  We listen, we understand, we have been there, and we are here for you.  Hugs abound.   The best of all advice - "This too shall pass."  That means the heat wave, the blues, this phase we all go through, and menopausal symptoms.

Hang in there, sweetie, and stay cool!  :cool:Hugs,

jeanne
Now you stop that you chocoholic! -heeheeIt has caffeine and that makes hot flashes worse. But it's suppose to be good for you heart , I'd keep it to a 1 pound box a day though, musn't overdo

Hugs, jeanne smile.gif

SylvryMoon
Only a pound a day??????Well, that will be a sacrifice, but I'll try my best!Hugs to you, Sweet Jeanne,

and to you too, Linda!

Linda,

I couldn't help but laugh when I read your post.  I feel just like you.  And all of this weight gain.  Jeez!

Somebody said a while back that our lives are not ours anymore.  True so True.

I want it back!  Now!!!!!

LOL:biggrin: ohmy.gif

Snowbird
Hey, Sylvry!!Didn't know you KNEW any, "Space Aliens!!" ohmy.gif Do they eat chocolate, too:biggrin:"ONLY KIDDING".............................:cheesy:

Thar's one thing the Snowbird, isn't gonna give up......yup.....you guessed it!! **CHOCOLATE** If I'm going to suffer...I'll do it *Smiling* That's why there's so many Chocolate Chicks around at Easter time:biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::biggrin::big
grin::biggrin::biggrin:

Linda, my good friend....I known the feeling!! Self-esteem, can take a real beating.....for sure:angry: Like jeanne said.....I took ONE problem at a time!! Had so many....had no choice;) But the key IS, getting some control back in your life....even if it's a step at a time, one day at a time!! Then the self-esteem will bounce back before you know it:)smile.gif:cool:wink.gif

There was one BIGGY for me...(don't know if it's your problem or not)....BUT, I had to pitch all the opinions I thought others had of me.....and consider mine more important, (to me) than anyones elses!!Cuz, your right...."Life Isn't Fair"...but...we can still make the best of a crazy situation that works for us...INDIVIDUALLY....A Step At A Time!!wink.gif

Luv & Hugs

Oh Snowy ---    Of course Aliens love chocolate -- you've never heard of Mars????   Where they make Mars Bars, M&M's, Snickers, etc??????    They are "my people".

Linda - everything Snowy said is true (except for the aliens - on which topic you must believe me, trust me!!!   ) .  Believe it.  You must get beyond the weight gain, the sweating, and the menopause.  You are a powerful woman who has "been there, done that."  And you can smile on all the non-chocolate eating aliens and say "Pffffftttttttt."

Snowbird
Hey....Sylvry!!Thank God!! For a minute thar....I thought you were talking about "Klingon's!" :biggrin:They eat things that MOVE!! Yucko!!Plus they don't have tear duct's....don't think they sweat either;)wink.gif

Hi Linda,

You are definetely not alone.  I have been having hot flashes for quite some time now.  I always hated the heat and now its even worse.  It's embarrasing to all of a sudden have sweat running down your  face and back. I have even had to leave stores because I can't stand it.   Good luck and hang in there.

Linda F
You all help so much to make me realize I am within normal limits(an old medical term I love).  I have a wedding to go to on Saturday - hope it's a cool day!! And I have been exercising every day and still trying like crazy to get this weight under control. I want to be one of the skinny, chilly space aliens!!! Linda F
