I know about hot flashes coming whenever they feel like it (like all night when I'm trying to sleep).

What about those that come on for the least little bit of stress?  I'm talking about the everyday things like pullling onto a highway entrance ramp---I do it 50 times a week, and now my body decides to go crazy!   Hard to be pulling off the winter coat at 60 MPH because you can't stand the heat      ohmy.gif

Does anyone else get these?  Any suggestions?

Jenny,

Stress can exacerbate anything, especially hot flashes. Sometimes all it takes is a little upset to throw you into a tailspin of hot flashes and panic attacks. They're all connected. You can try various methods of treatment that may work 100% of the time, sometimes 75% of the time and then not work at all. There's nothing consistent. A lot depends on the woman as well -- her temperament, her anxiety levels in general prior to perimenopause, but, yes, you can get hot flashes from a little stress. I can't tell you how many times my sweatshirt would come off, be put back on, be pulled off again and on and off until I thought I'd go nuts. I was amazed I didn't lose weight from all the exercise involved. See if you can find something that works for you. You'll find information all over the site, but many options are included on this page.

You also might want to take a look at Power Surge's Menopause Survival Tips and many of the other articles in the Educate Your Body area of the site.

I was about to ask the very same question....

Since taking soy supplements, my hot flashes have almost disappeared....except for when I have the least little bit of stress, then they're back again.

I spent all last week with hot flashes because I was worried about having to go to my granddaughter's Christening (am agoraphobic).  Once it was over I was fine again....only the usual number of flashes I get on soy (not very many) and the usual severity (mild).

I could really identify with the sweatshirt exercises....
