Hi folksI have just registered, so am very new to all this. I have been hot faced for a few years now. It is most apparent in warm rooms, and at night. I wake up with my face roasting. It really bothers me especially because I have a sensitive skin, and I sometimes get something akin to a sweat rash. I just wish my face would feel cool. I have been on norehisterone tablets for 2 years now, but as my periods stopped about 4 months ago, the doc recently gave me a try of Climagest. After a week I felt nauseous, and my face was worse, so I stopped. I have gone back now on wild yam, black cohosh and norehisterone, but I still feel very hot faced. Any suggestions please?

Have you had your hormone levels assessed lately,Babs? Maybe you are on completely the wrong thing. Doesn't seem right that you should be having this problem that often for that long. I would ask for another saliva hormone test to see what I really need . Or go to the recommendations page on PowerSurge (homepage) and see what is suggested. ok?Lots of good advice there :)Welcome to PS and all of the support you will find here from all the ladies :)hugs, jeanne

Oh yesmy mom came through her breast surgery just fine an a year of radition theraby. I still remain fearful alot of anixtyabout breast cancer I just want to get through this menopause thing the best way that I can, with as little drama as possible. Hi Gemani,Welcome! For me, the best cure for a hot face and neck (which I experience daily!!) (along with the redness), is cool compresses. First, I always have a glass of cold, icewater with me - on my desk at work, and here at home. Second, if you feel that hot flash coming, go get a wash-cloth, or face cloth, and soak it in cold water, and apply it to your face and neck. It will feel soothing and cooling. I also have found a wonderful face cream - Comfort Cream by Prescriptives (available in large department stores). It tones down the redness, and really feels cool going on (and smells wonderfully herbal, also!)
Gemani, as long as you peruse all the wonderful information here on this website and adhere to what makes sense to YOU, you'll get through menopause just fine.
We're all here with you!

Hi Gemani... Sylvry has some good suggestions there! I thought I might mention that Vitamin E is also supposed to help with hot flashes... lots of women say it does, although it didn't work so well for me. But, we are all different, so it may for you. Lots of info here, like Sylvry said... you will get lots of suggestions! Good luck!

Gemani,
All of us want to go through menopause the best way we can. The best way so far are these boards. I thank God for them everyday. My hot flashes stopped after 6 months of non-stop hot flashes and sweating day and night. I finally gave up all carbonated drinks, chocolate, and sugar. They went away. Now some say it doesn't bother them to eat chocolate, but it did for me. I love the stuff. LOL Anyway, I am also on REvival soy protein. I have not had a hot flash since September.
I hope you luck and keep reading and posting on these boards. You will find that they help.

hi! My name is sweetface, this is my first time posting. I have really enjoyed reading all of the posts. And it is great to know that I am not alone in this menopausal monkey suit. I have found the biggest problem for me and meno is the heart palps. It's an awfull feeling. I've always had palps but nothing like these since meno. I have hot flashes too. I drink alot of cold water during the day and at night I sweat it all out. I don't have full body sweat though, just upper torso. I know alot of ladies wake up in a pool of sweat. At least I haven't done that. Anyway, I look forward to power surge and talking to all of you. Thanks! sweetface

Well Hello Sweetface and welcome,
Yup you will only sweat on the upper torso. That is hot flashes. Drink lots of water - keep a cool wet cloth handy - lots of lotion ( it helps to keep you cool).

Hello Aunt B,Thanks for the reply. I will try what you suggest, although I've already got a fan in my face at night. It helps alittle. I'll try the cool rag thing along with it. I do drink lots of cold water during the day, good thing or I would sure be dehydrated after the night sweats! What a merry-go-round-----The Menopause! One day you're good, the next day you're bad etc. At least I am not alone in this.
Thanks again Aunt B,And a Big hug back at ya!Sweetface

Hello, my name is Stacy. It's good to know that I'm not alone with my problems. I'm 42 years young. I'm just getting over the flu and my first thought was...I must have another fever and I better check the temperature. Oops, I didn't have another fever but my face was very warm (actually it was hot) and it doesn't seem to stop. I have hot flashes more often then not having hot flashes. I've had hot flashes over the last year but it goes away within a minute or two. I also had hot sweats but it would go away in a few minutes. I started taking a herb called Soy Max approx. 1 year ago and that has worked wonderfully but now....I must say that I'm a little scared with the hot flashed, very warm face feeling - I had brain surgury 2 1/2 years ago (an AVM, similiar to an aneurysm) and I'm just starting to heal. Does anyone know anyone who had brain surgery and how does the hot flashes affect the brain/head. Thank you for listening. Stacy

Hi Stacy.......I don't know anyone who has had brain surgery but it sounds to me like you might just be starting menopause. Have you talked to your doctor about your fears with hot flashes and your recent surgery? I wish I knew what to tell you for sure, but I don't want to stir you wrong either. Definitly talk to your Dr. first. I'm sure he/she could help you with your question.Good Luck!Sweetface

Hi Stacy, your certainly welcome. I'm glad to hear that you have scheduled Dr. appt's. Let us know what Dr.'s say ok? I'm sure that they both will ease your mind. Be sure and write down everything that you want to ask them both. That way you won't forget anything important. I do write downs all the time, cause if I don't the mind just kind of goes blank........Also Stacy, the more you visit these boards, the better you will feel also. I know It sure helped me,and everyone is very supportive. I was very glad too that I found Power Surge.Hugs to you Stacy,Sweetface

I'm wondering if anyone if experiencing the same kind of hot flashes that I am at night. I wake up with a burning sensation that starts in the area of my waist, travels up through my chest and neck and out both of my arms. This is usually accompanied by anxiety. However, I don't get sweaty or flushed. It's a burning sensation without actual feelings of heat or sweating. Can anyone help?

Hi Sheilat,I experience a similar sensation at night, and ONLY at night. It starts about 5 minutes after I go to bed. It usually goes on all night, with me throwing covers off, pulling them back on, or sleeping with one leg not covered. I don't have anxiety with this, but your anxiety may be because you have just started to experience this?? If you haven't already done so, I'd recommend reading the rest of the topics on this board. There are alot of women experiencing all kinds of flashes, flushes, night sweats, etc. It may help. I can't tell you what helps with this, because I've yet to find the answer. But, you're definitely not alone! :)Debbi

I just started having symptoms similar to yours. I've been peri-menopausal for about 5 yrs. Had most of the 30 some symptoms and just this week started with this burning, itching sensation in my upper body. I even get bright red temporarily, if I scratch. Sort of like my skin becomes hypersensitive to touch.
I have only had one of two hot flashes over these years BUT I get cold flashes that are accompained by panic attacks. I can tell it is going to be a long night if around 9 pm I start getting chills. The panic attacks follow, as does the pounding heart, rumbling stomach, and thoughts "I must be having a heart attack."
Although I think these burning skin sensations are menopause related, I don't get the anxious feeling with them. Good and bad! I couldn't sleep part of the month with the cold flashing and panic feelings, NOW, I can't sleep the rest of the month because it feels like little fire ants are "biting" me. Yikes!!!
I am sorry I can't be of any real help to you. Perhaps someone else might inform us.

Hi Jacquie...
I don't have any personal experience with this myself, but I do know that there is a message board here somewhere (I cannot remember the category it is in at the moment) titled, "Formication", which is the name of the condition where it feels like ants or bugs crawling on your skin. I do know there are other women who post here who have had this sensation. I also think there is some information about this on other areas of this huge Power Surge site. Just look around a bit and I am sure you will find it, and hopefully, someone who has experienced this will also answer your post.
