I feel strange posting this but for the past month or so I get a lightheaded / woozy feeling mostly at work esp. when in confined areas or if someone is too close to me.  I am an RN and when I am talking to a patient in their room that is when I notice it.  I have been checked out by a cardiologist (and the stress test) and have hypertension, had  my B/P dose lowered thinking it was causing this.I'm going to see my Internist and rule out inner ear problems and such.  I hope this is just menopause related.  I take an herbal menopause formula by BioChem and estrogen cream (which I haven't taken lately).  Any ideas?Pat

Well I guess I will reply to myself since I may have fiqured out the problem. My doctor took me off my B/P med two days ago for the dizziness and so far so good.  I was taking a anti-stress herbal forumula from Nutralite that might have caused the dizziness also.

It's been a bad day at work and I'm so emotional and teary right now I can't stand it!Why do some of these posts get a ton of answers and everything I have ever asked goes unnoticed?Feeling down,Pat

Hi Pat,      Sorry your post did not receive a response.  Your post was not at all strange.  Lightedness/dizziness is certainly a topic that has been brought up by other ladies on the site.   You can do a search of a word or symptom and see others areas where it has been discussed.   Checking out the medical reasons was a good place to start.   As for feeling it when you are at work in close situations, anxiety could either cause some of the problem or make it  seem worse.   Most of us can relate to being emotional and teary in ways that we never used to before reaching this stage of life.  Try to pamper yourself.  This can be one of the most difficult, yet helpful things we do for ourselves.  Good luck and keep posting.  :)                     ~Helen

Hi Pat

sorry not responed to your post sometimes posts get missed. I myself suffer with being dizzy and lightheadness. I think its mostly from suffering with anxiety and it does seem that is what you are suffering from.  Because as you say it seems to happen when you are in close contact with people. You might not think you are not feeling anxious but unknown to you that is what is happening to your body.  Also do you get it about period time. Thats something to think of as i do seem to suffer the of balance thing more then.

As Helen has said there is plenty of posts on Lightheadness/dizzy, which if you read will make you feel better to know so many of us here suffer from that. You sound really down i get  like that before period is due.  we all do care here and want to help.

Take care Pauline

Hi Pat, as you've noticed, sometimes posts are answered right away, sometimes not. It all depends who is on at that time, and whether they have anything useful to offer you! People are kind and helpful here, as I'm sure you will find.I sometimes have that lightheaded and dizzy feel too. I put mine down to tension headaches, which I have a lot. Lots of blood tensing up those muscles, less in my head! Hope it helps to hear that other people do know how you feel. Take care

Hi Pat.

Sorry to hear about the bad feeling of not having your post answered.   Reposting to your own post (like you did)  is a good way to give people a second chance to notice it.  Your post might not get noticed if it is "masked" by another post happening just after yours.  The "thread" with the latest post is pushed to the top of the "forum".  That happened with your post and it was masked.  Also people may be away from the site.

Anyhoo... the term "dizziness" can be anything from a mild symptom which we associate with "swirling hormones" to a distressing feeling accompanied by feelings of unwellness and that we are going to pass out.  During my meno adventure tour ;^) I have had several types of dizziness.   Since you created a whole separate thread on dizziness under the panick attacks forum I imagine that you are having severe dizziness. As well dizziness is a general symptom of many afflictions, isn't it?

My dizziness was/is caused by:  lack of oxygen due to iron deficiency;  anxiety;  a known side effect of the drug I was taking; a reaction of some kind to chemicals; and swirling hormones.  The air quality in those closed rooms and crowded places might be poor as well.  Chemical smells seem to concern me (or bother me) more than they used to.

Controlling mineral deficiencies and getting adequete sleep and controlling stress seem to be important for me.

On another note have you read the list of symptoms for anxiety and panic disorders?

Hi everyone,I also have the lightheadedness/dizziness on a daily basis.  It's difficult to do simple everyday things.Pat, I noticed that you had been taking blood pressure medications and they might have been causing this problem for you.  May I ask what you were taking?  I currently take Norvasc 5mg. 1x daily and 25 mg Tenormin 1x daily.  I honestly think these meds are contributing to my problems.  My doc doesn't think so.Thank you and good luck to all you ladies who share this problem.BTW I'm 56 and 3 yrs post meno.

Thank you all for responding.  After a good cry and a good nights sleep, today is much better (plus I started my period today, yippee!)

Yesterday was bad at work, my husband lost his job two weeks ago due to corporate downsizing and I realized its coming up on the 2nd anniversary of my Dad's death, how's that for some stress!  But, hey that is minor compared to what some folks go through.

My B/P has been normal now three days being off the medication (Jan LK, I started at 50 mg of Tenormin then decreased to 25 mg ).I didn't notice any dizziness today but my right ear still feels stuffy, I'll deal with that later.

Love you guys,Pat
