I just have been reading all the great info. here on the boards and the articles. I have a question. I get these "power-surges" through my body, like adrenaline is shooting through it. Sometimes it is a huge surge, sometimes little. I read on Dearest's list that that is a symptom of pre-menopause. I also read through on one of the articles here that it sounds like a panic attack. I really don't feel panicky, just have this annoying electricity going through my body. Any help?

Hi MrsSquirrel--Do you feel warm when you have the surge, or just tingling? I'd hazard a guess that if you're warm, it might be the beginnings of hot flashes. You didn't say how old you were, which is one way to tell what is probably happening. Either your age, if your periods have changed. It could also be internal shaking. Do you feel any energy with the surges at all? If you have a panic attack, you will likely know it. You will sweat and feel sick and be upset and terrified--at least that is what happened to me with a panic attack. So maybe you are just starting to have hot flashes. When I was in perimenopause, I was taking an herbal supplement to lose weight and curb my appetite. It was supposed to rev up my metabolism, too. Well, I started to have hot flashes at that time, but I didn't recognize them and I thought it was the supplement revving me up.

I recommend reading the article,
What's A Hot Flash? I think you'll find many answers there.
