Does anyone know anything natural to take that does not contain soy as I cant use it because of the affect it has on my thyroid. I am going mad with flushes every 10 mins or so sometimes, cant sleep, and find it difficult at my job especially at meetings etc. I feel like I am losing it! I am taking red clover but it only worked for the first month.

Hi Bundy,You might try black cohosh, Don quai or red clover for the flashes. Actually there are several herbs and some of them come combined in a menopause relief pill. you could try a few different brands and see what works best for you. It does take several weeks before you really notice the effect. Sometimes it even makes it worse at first while your body is getting used to it.

I too feel that hot flashes(flushes) are ruining my life. I have them about every 45 min. to an hour apart and wake up several times at night with them. I started taking black cohosh about 2 weeks ago (Remifemin) and believe that over the past couple of days they are becoming milder. The frequency is about the same, but the intensity seems less. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it's the black cohosh and the hot flashes will continue to get better. Sometimes it feels so frustrating because you keep reading to give up your coffee, wine, spicy foods, etc. I've already lost my HRT due to the new findings that came out in July! I was feeling great on HRT for the past 4 years and now I am miserable again. Can't some research scientist somewhere solve this problem????? It's embarrassing to be hot and sweaty all the time and I never feel clean anymore!

The black cohosh is definitely working! Hooray! I have a mild hot flash maybe 3 or 4 times a day, none at night. I feel 100% better. I've been taking Remifemin (which contains black cohosh, 20mg) twice a day for nearly a month and I am feeling great! I can even tolerate coffee for breakfast and a glass of wine at dinner. Hooray !!!!!!!

Bundy....Sorry I didn't see your post earlier. Evening Primrose Oil (can be purchased in any natural health store and some pharmacies) helped my Hot Flashes considerably when I was Peri and before I was aware of Revival. I took 1300mgs. in softgel capsule everyday and it really did help. Maybe you could give it a try. Also if you visit the Recommendations Section on the site, Dearest has many suggestions that would also be helpful. Good luck.
Blessings and be well.
Bundy,
I too have been with hot flashes for over 9 years, the htr really helped and I felt half way normal, but I too gave up the prem-pro.
I am now going back to what I use to be hot and sweaty. I do not mind soy, but I also take the over the counter herb, called NEW PHASE . It contains black cohash 40mg once a day and does help. I am still have problems sleeping, dream all night an wake up tired as can be. Still working on that part. But the black cohash does seem to help.

I had a liver transplant 10 years ago & came of HRT 12 months ago. Since then I have terrible hot flushes & have been told to be careful with alternative remedies. Is anybody else out there in the same position as myself, who has found a solution?

Hello - Sometimes the best thing to do is to have enough information regarding the alternative remedies and talk to your pharmacist, then talk to your liver Dr. and if he/she isn't knowledeble regarding alternative remedies maybe you can talk to your GYC. The more information you have...even contacting the company who created and makes the alternative remedies can be uplifting.... I'm not in an exact position such as your but....I did have brain surgery 4 years ago and like you....I must be careful what I put in my body/brain because the side effects are different - for instance, in a multi-vitamin there is B-12....for some reason, the B-12 is a "rush" in my brain ...wow, it's a scary feeling. So, I try to be as knowledgeable as possible about what's going in my body. Before I take any pill/vitaman...first I check with the pharmacist and I'm blessed with a pharmacist that takes the time to listen and help me...then I contact the Neuro. and I get more information - then I have my own choices and I feel better. I hope this helps. Blessings, Stacy
