SOMEBODY help me here! Im 46, been taking xanax for about 6yrs for sleep(bcuz of chronic hidradentits) What's happening to me is this> First of all this started 2 yrs ago while out of town: Sudden shock like sensations in my head, tongue, chest and down left arm/leg! I WAS HORRIBLE! It lasted for 2 days and just disappeared, and then some intermetitant ones. Sunday, it started again, all day long and i feel real WEIRD when this is going on. Well, it went away, and then today 5 days later. Lasted all day, called my dad crying cuz i was scared! Now, the numbess and tingling in my left arm/leg is constant! It never goes away. My husband thinks its the XANAX doing this Shock like sensation. I dont buy it! Went to cardiology and had tests, they found nothing, told doc about the xanax and he didnt think that would cause this! i feel like im loosing my mind! I take 1mg xanax at bedtime, and sometimes a .5 during day so i can rest. I feel very , lets say, sidetracked all the time! And along with those shock things, im real clumbsy, and slurred speech. Im afraid of mini strokes! Could this be? I do smoke like a train, pack and 1/2 day. Those shock like sensations are like as if i put a 9volt battery on my tongue and in my head. What do i do? The shock's, i feel them in my heart as well, ITS REALLY KREEPY and SCAREY. I dont know what to do!

I am not taking xanax but I have had a terrrible time with electric shock feeling in my head. It will start as a fast squeeze, at times I will feel pressure after the first jolt. I have also felt a tingling sensation associated with this shock. I am terrified when this happens and it starts my heart to race and a feeling of panic at times.

I have suffered from a strange electrical shock sensation in my head, but do not take any meds of any kind. I would like to hear if anyone else feels this. It comes and goes before my period, and i have worried for some time now. I am afraid of a tumor or some terrible disease. At times pain occurs with the shock

My sister said she felt plugged into an electrical
outlet during perimenopause, which she
attributed to anxiety. If you've been taking the
same dose of Xanax for years, I find it unlikely
this side effect would suddenly develop.
My sister also felt, as do I, that she was losing
her mind.
