Wow, that was quick!

I am a Cancer/Crab/Moon Child...water sign.  The only things I can remember very well about my sign is that we like home, food, family, and warm fuzzies type things, are responsible and dependable, but we can also be very moody.  sad.gif

I get along best with all water signs, usually, and also Leos, Geminis, and Capricorns (forgot what they are...maybe water signs, too, lol).  I get along least, usually, with Taurus' and Sagittarius',  and Libras can often drive me nutz with all the indecision.

My birthday is October 23, which is on the cusp of Libra and Scorpio.  I have characteristics of both signs -- uh, the best characteristics of each sign, I might add!!    (that's the Scorpio humility coming through there) (heh-heh)

Hahahahahahaha!!!!!!!!!!

(humility ain't one of Scorpio's strong points, kiddo)

I got this from elsewhere, since my modesty (below) would never allow me to say these things about myself...Your greatest asset is your inquisitive mind, which makes you a natural critic and perfectionist that also has the power to heal people, if you have the right attitude. You pay attention to order and detail, enjoy analyzing problems and people, and are ruled by the quick-witted Mercury which gives you an edge in intellect and a depth to perception. Your symbol is the Virgin, forever tending the harvest, and indeed you are fussy and worry (What, me worry?) over the practical needs of cultivating facts and serving others through dutiful tasks and hard-working energy.

To you, home is extremely important, and your attention to details makes you a good accountant, bookkeeper, nurse, secretary, critic, or anything requiring supervision where you can support a boss. You are not overly ambitious (They calling me lazy?), but will do any job to the best of your ability; many times you have a sharp writing style, and enjoy teaching or the medical field due to your love of service. You do your best when working for or with others--social work, hospitals, clinics, hospice programs, and young children. The challenge is to serve without self-sacrifice. You need to evolve and change, continually. Modest and shy, you are reliable to a fault--often worrying over the most tedious details, keeping your nervous energy in full motion, many times overly critical of others for their inability to keep track of minutia. Above all, you need a positive outlet in which to focus your energy, a center in which to find calm and roots, and some way to relieve tension, which builds up from your worrying. Many times you are bogged down by details, though your lively, talkative exterior belies your interior dark, brooding mind (I don't think I'm very talkative!).

You enjoy communicating, especially intellectual thoughts, though you have a tendency to put yourself down in relationships. This can be because of a lack of self-esteem. Though you are humble and charming, you can have deep self-confidence problems, which many times prevent you from accepting compliments (Very true). Nonetheless, you will do anything for the right partner. Practical and down to earth, you are sweet, making few enemies and having many friends because of your quiet, gentle manner. More than anything, you embody purity and perfection. Your goal is to reach the summit of something, for yourselves and those around you. This finds its fullest expression in serving others, in your own quiet way, and in circumventing your difficulty in communicating inner thoughts by getting caught up in the thousands and millions of little details that no one else wants to think about, let alone deal with.

On the negative side, your attention to detail can make you fussy, a worrier, overcritical and harsh. You may have a real inferiority complex, and a little bit of selfishness, which prevents you from true intimacy with anyone. You must constantly learn the lessons of humility and patience, and to calm your state of mind, which in turn can calm your jittery nerves. Your worrying can even lead to being a hypochondriac, or at its very least, it can make you a very demanding lover. At its best, Virgo is the seed of growth that needs to be harvested, though its roots are in darkness, it needs to break through to the light. (Gee, can I change my sign?)

Your mental quickness and agility lead you to delve deeply into subjects which most people wouldn't tamper with. You are career-oriented, and duty is important to you, as is service to others. You are attracted to people who are intellectually stimulating or eccentric in some way, and have very high standards for romantic relationships--you must have some kind of mental connection, or the relationship won't last. You enjoy writing, reading, pets and education. You have a natural love of children and nature, enjoy the country, and typically like to eat a whole food and vegetarian diet.

Virgo women are physically distinctive, with intriguing eyes and bone structure (No way!). They exude an energy that needs some kind of spark to ignite romance. On the negative side, she is often insecure and frets over everything. However, this tendency will lessen as she matures. She enjoys spending money on books and tasteful pieces of art. She typically makes a comfortable home, and is a conscientious, tactful, and loving mother.

Whether a man or a woman, Virgos need to learn not to take themselves too seriously. They need to lighten up, because even though they are critical of people, they are hardest on themselves. Rarely do they seek praise, and rarely do they give it. With money, they waver between spending too much, or not enough. Virgos are often very difficult to read in terms of romance. Remote and quiet, they can suddenly open up and talk at odd moments, being glad to see you one minute, and act as if they could care less the next. They harbor no romantic "illusions" or delusions--they see what is actually there, like an X-ray, and try to improve upon it.

In the spiritual realm, Virgos often are capable of great vision and intuition that border on the mystical. They typically try different beliefs until they find one they like. Because an earlier symbol for Virgos was the Sphinx, who asked great questions, they are considered to have great knowledge and a talent for discrimination. This includes cultivation of the self. For the Virgo, the search for the soul is the highest attainment of knowledge for which he or she can aspire. This enigmatic person, however, is also the practical seeker in search of some healing or serving principle in which to apply himself. With great knowledge, the Virgo can take a tiny scrap of information and get the necessary details to solve a case, diagnose an illness, or prove a scientific theory. Their challenge is to see, and remember, the big picture, instead of getting bogged down in the details.

A Virgo's biggest goal should be to serve a community in some way, so that his or her detail-oriented mind doesn't become isolated and overly critical of itself and others. With their extremely logical minds, Virgos love to argue theory, with the goal being perfection. Typically reclusive, introverted and scholastic, a Virgo has a vast well of information to draw from when involved in a debate. Yet despite that, the Virgin also has a patient ear for listening and would do well as a psychiatrist or psychologist, analyzing the problems and details of another person's life.  (Psychiatrist, huh?  Maybe I should consider a new career  smile.gif )

Somewhat true, somewhat not...

Mary!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now we know all about you (all your darkest secrets lol), and reading this, it's looks quite accurate in accordance with some of the astrology books my husband has up there on the shelf.

What do you think Mary? I saw your comments.

My husband is a self-taught astrologist, ever since he was 16 - he's pretty intuitive and at that time, astrology was much harder before the calculations, logarithms and all the tricky stuff was later done automatically in computer programmes.  So, he knows, what he knows

I know hardly anything, but what I thought I could do is tell you about one of the few things I know  which is how to calculate the sign where your rising sun is (ascendent) all by yourself.  That's fairly important because although our birthsign marks the most significant characteristics, we sometimes act and behave more in line with the characteristics in the sign of our ascendent, but the books say that people are most happy and at peace with themselves when they are closer to fulfilling the natural tendencies of their birthsign.

So (I'll try and make this simple, which isn't easy for a complicated person like me lol).

The sun passes through each sign of the zodiac  every two hours during one full day (24 hrs). Right now, for instances, it's 11:30 p.m. where I live and the sun (if it was out) would be half-way between Scorpio and Sagitarrius, if you consider that the sun is in Pisces at 7.00 a.m. when it rises, although it's almost in Aries tomorrow.

There are 30º in each sign  and 1º (degree) is equal to 4 minutes, so for the sun to pass from one sign to the next that would take 120 minutes (2 hours).

Just supposing that you were born on March 18 at 11.00 a.m. that is 4 hours (240 minutes) after sunrise.  So, that means 240 the sun which moves 30º (degrees) per sign, so to speak will have moved up 4 signs exactly to Gemini (which is your rising sun).

This is keeping it fairly simple, don't forget if you were born at 5.45 a.m. or p.m. don't forget to add on the 45 minutes, or round up to 50 to make it easier!!

Also remember if you were born in winter or summer that the hour of sunrise will vary.

Clear as mud????  I thought so :biggrin:Kisses, Barbie xxxxx

Kalanie
Hey, Barbie, I am over-extended already, without having to worry about all this math!

athenea
HI Boni - that is great, the way you recognize all those qualities which means you are true to your sign.My husband (the amateur astrologist) says that a person is truly at their best when their lives run parallel with the aspects of the sign.  In your case that's sounds to be true (like when you say you don't like to be told what to do and you have your own business - if that was different it's as if the lights from your sign would be dimmed and you wouldn't have as much success).  Hope I'm not sounding too aspect, and your description is great - just like my daughter in many ways.Take care,Barbie xxx
pookie
I was born Sept 5 1954 im a virgo, very spiritual, too picky when it comes to food, clothes and yes sad to say even in choosing friends, dont have many. Always too critical of people, dont harm anyone with bad thoughts and always wish others good things. I always want to save the world. love flowers, animals, dolls and dollhouses. Hate changes, analize things way too much before deciding, responsible and do care what other people think of me as a person. The trait i hate the most about myself is that i dwell too much on the past and this takes away my happiness. I can be imposible to live with when im sick. but in the end i can be the most loyal and dedicated friend anyone can have. The funny thing is that my hubby is a virgo too and we get along so well, but of course he was born in 1963 so perhaps is the reason we get along so well the only difference between us is that he has the wonderful characteristic of being very possitive and wanting to conquer the world, while i conform myself to just being quietly at home. so there you go my dear friends in meno and shows you that astrology can be so mistical and yet so different.      lovey dovey

Kalanie,

I am a Libra and my indecision drives me crazy too!

I  supposedly get along best with Aquarius and Gemini and Sagitarius people but  have had many Virgo friends and also Taurus so go figure.

I just made a Sagitarius friend and we seem to have much in common so it is great.

Libras try to find balance but what the heck is that? smile.gif

Hi Nancy...  I think I was reliving my married life with my ex-husband when I wrote about Libras, lol...  seems like he would take forever and ever to make up his mind!

What does it say about Libra's. You did so well with Virgo. Looking forward in reading more. Thanks in advance. I am seeing myself in a different light these days...perhaps I am becoming more of a Libra now. Gina;)wink.gif

I'm a true-blue Libra, born October 5th. I love to make others laugh. I love a good belly laugh. I can't remember jokes at all but I use everyday humor to crack people up. I love it. I seek justice and fairness in all matters. The law intrigues me so I became a paralegal but didn't want to work in another law firm (long hours). Harmony is a "must" for I cannot live or work in an environment that is chaotic. It is like a train driving through my brain. I will try anything to bring peace and harmony to an unsettling environment. I weigh each big decision by what-iffing every single scenario of a decision before making one. I do not make snap decisions. Decisions on where to dine isn't a problem at all. I love the arts, music music music ... ballet, and beautiful paintings, Monet, Pierre Renoir, etc. My house has been decorated and furnished to be our haven to rest and relax with wide open spaces (no clutter) with huge bookshelves loaded with books. I like to snuggle up and read by the big window in the piano room. I get bored easily (mostly in my jobs). Learn quickly but need a good challenge to overcome. It's fun. I welcome the chance to learn anything new. My heart and soul are happy and my eyes see the beauty in everything and everyone I meet. My husband is a Gemini and we get along well. We are total opposites but do not clash. We respect each others opinions although we do love a good debate. Tina wink.gifwink.gif
joliejacq
I'm a Libra too (Sept. 24), cusp of Virgo, and can ditto everything Tina says. Chaos makes me absolutely crazy (even sick). Always looking for a harmonious environment. Also got enough of the Virgo to be extremely detail-oriented and able to organize things ad nauseum. Some people call this "anal," but I like to think of it as high-functioning....tongue.gif Hub's a Libra, too - don't ask us where we want to go out to eat unless you got a couple hours to watch us hash it over!! LOL Jacquie

Aries with a Libra rising sign, whatever that means.
Juliann
Well, I belong to the twins, yep Gemini and to make it worse, I am married to another Gemini, the four of us get along pretty good. If I remember right, male and females are slightly different within there own signs?? Anyhow, my biggest asset would be my humanity, caring, giving nature, I like to act out (but rarely these days). I loved drama in highschool, being in plays and center stage stuff. Oh those were the days..... My worst points are that I am like my cusp sign (I guess) taurus, I am very willful and once I am making a decision I am very headstrong. I tend to control also. Gives me things to work on!!!! Love to all, Juliann
Juliann
Mary, thanks for the "virgo" info, that is truly my daughter. She loves details, she bores me to tears (I'm much more shallow) teehee. Great job!!! juliann

Hi -
This is the first time I seen this thread...cool beans!!!

I'm a Virgo, 9/21... and my moon is a Taurus. That means that the majority of the time I act like a Virgo..but close to full moon - I act more like a Taurus...ho hum - I'm more complex then I thought laugh.gif .

I've always found astroglogy fasinating... My daughter is a Libra...and my husband is a Capricorn...Now the dynamics are fascinating when all of us are together - my Libra daughter is always going back and forth with any issue - my Capricorn husband has a attitude with any issue is 'just figure out what you want to do and stick with it' - and me, the Virgo is analyzing and organizing everything in the middle tongue.gif ... Mary - that Virgo info. sounds alot like me...thanks for sharing it.

Blessings,
Stacy

Hi

This is also the first time I have seen this. I am a Leo but don't know about the moon part. I was born six weeks early in 1955 and my mom was told I wouldn't make it. Well... just try to get rid of a LEO! I have alot of the qualities of Leo's but the one that stands out the most is that I am stubborn and have a very strong will. I think that has actually helped me through this peri nightmare. It takes alot to get me down and I won't let meno do that or at least I try. My husband is an Aquarius so that fits with me perfectly. He is very easy going and knows how to handle my strong will.

One son is a Virgo actually born today 9/4/82 and my other son is a Sagittarius. Their birth signs fit them pretty well.
boyzmom
Hi girls ... Libra here... 10/17. I read up on everything in high school, but I can't remember that far back! laugh.gif Maybe I'll have to check it out again.
Skunky
Hi I 'm Capricorn. Born in 55. They say I'm ambitious but I don't FEEL that I am. I never agree with any of my horoscope readings. I AM efficient and a bit of a perfectionist I suppose and my Aquarius husband tells me I'm opinionated and like my own way. Well, Who DOESN'T that's what I'd lke to know??!! Any other Caps here who don't FEEL like a Cap?? Rita blink.gif
junnepurl
Out of all those posts I only see one Gemini?????????? What is this world coming to????
No wonder there's so much anger and not enough laughter, we need more Gems!! tongue.gif

I am a TRUE Gemini lady all the way!!!!!!!!!!! Gemini's are not one for commitments, we Like variety and get bored VERY fast! It's Gods grace my hubby and I have been married 17 years and its because he makes me laugh and can "play".
We are kids at heart and if you need a good, fun, wild party with the ladies, then make sure there's a gemini in the room!!!!!!!!!!

We are very intelletual, deep thinkers but not too serious. When life gets too serious, we move on. We are very creative. I bet if you do research you will find most of the greatest artists and poets were Geminis!
We handle multi task jobs very well and yes, we are known for having double personalities! Just when you think you have a gemini figured out, she changes on ya!
Geminis make awesome parents because we can relate to kids and teens on their level. I am and have always been known as the "coolest mom". I was referred to by my neice as a 40year old teen!!! What a compliment!!

For me, I get along best with Aquaruis and Libra. My oldest daughter is a Libra and we're like best friends. I don't mix well with Leos. My youngest is a Leo and step daughter is a leo and Lord help me!!!!!!!!!!!!
I make good friends with Aries but not romantically.
We are very stubborn and don't like demands and ultimatiums, we are a free spirit and if you try to tame us or tie us down, you can kiss us goodbye!
We make a very loyal friend to others and hate to see injustice.

So, that's me! So laugh and the world laughs with you!! laugh.gif
MaeFlower
This is the first time I've seen this thread. I'm a Leo, born August 12th. And I must say the characteristics of Leo describe me pretty well. Like Seahorse mentioned in her post, I too am stubborn and strong willed and this has probably helped me in dealing with this peri stuff. I guess these qualities can be good but also at times be bad. Another characteristic I have that is very Leo is being set in my ways and very resistant to change. This is not a good trait and it is a constant struggle for me to be positive when change takes place. On the positive side of things Leo's have a lot of confidence, they persevere, and are very resourceful. That is also the way I am so I guess the good can balance out the bad.

Hey Mayflower

My birthday is August 12 also! I don't like change either. I get into a pattern or schedule and if that is changed it disrupts me..even if they change my hours at work for a day or two. I think being strong willed has helped me tremendously with all this peri stuff. I won't let it beat me!!

Kim
MaeFlower
Hi Kim,

That is so cool we share the same birthday. I have never paid much attention to astrology but it certainly is interesting. I guess there must be some truth to what is said about the various zodiac signs in regards to personality characteristics and traits because so many of us are accurately described.

I think because I am a person who has a hard time with change this peri/menopause stage in life has really thrown me for a loop. Before I started going through all this I was so regular, so scheduled, I could write a calendar by my cycles. Then all hell broke loose with peri/menopause. But my perseverance and resolve and stubborness set in and I refuse to allow this to get the best of me.

Happy (late) birthday,
Maeflower (Kinzie)

Maeflower (kinzie)

Sorry I spelled it wrong in my last post. Everytime I go to my doctor I always say I am so mad about these peri symptoms because I have things to do. I don't have time to be dealing with this stuff. He just looks at me and I say Yes... I am angry. This has all thrown me for a loop also. I just can't understand how my life could be going so great and within 24 hours it changed completely. I try to keep my head up and my spirits good but some days it is very challenging. Happy late Birthday to you too. I was 50 this year.. had a great celebration.

I'm an Aries sun sign and Scorpio moon. Interesting combo, eh?
Billysrose
I've posted earlier about my sun and moon combos! I'm more like a Scorpio in the way I love to dig deep for info, and investigate. and I can be brooding and hold long grudges. On the Arian side, I love to start new projects. Unlike an Arian though, I see a project through once I've started it. smile.gif

I am a Gemini and yes I do have 2 personalitites. Depending on the Day,hour, minute, second..I can change! Kinda like peri!! LOL

i am a Cancer.
I dont know if Im peri or Cancer.

I am married to a Capricorn.

we are supposed to be a WONDERFUL match.
he does compliment my EVERY mood

if i am cranky (which is often)
he is not.

If he is cranky (so am I)

he is my anchor and we have fun.

but in the mean time, we have and Aries and a Sagitarrius (sp?) in the house.
all those land creatures are a bit much for me some times,

so I often go off by myself and strike back often.
tongue.gif
Billysrose
I don't base personalities on Sun Signs alone. I think the sun and moon signs determine the personality of an individual. I'm an Aries sun but I do not take on all qualities of an Aries. When I get angry enough, it's long lasting and if someone messes with me or someone I love? WOAH! Look out! I once waited an entire year before emailing some hag that wronged me and my friends. I shut her out of my life, didn't give an explanation, and waited almost exactly a year to email her and tell her what I thought about her. It wasn't so much what I wanted to say, I just had to say it at the right moment. So I'd say I'm more like my moon sign than my sun. Aries is quick to forgive. With me? Not so!
Billysrose
Cynt,

I'm an Aries Sun/Scorpio Moon married to a Capricorn Sun/Aquarius Moon! Not a good combo. Aries and Cappies aren't compatible and Scorpio and Aquarius aren't any good either as combinations.
Tots
I'm a fish....a Pisces. I have read that Pisces, being the last sign of the zodiac, takes on a few traits of all the other signs. I guess I'm a little of all of them. My birthday is March 16th. I share my birthday with:

Jerry Lewis...............comedian
Henny Youngman......comedian
Pat Nixon..................first lady
James Madison..........4th U.S. President
Erik Estrada..............actor

and then there's me blink.gif .

This thread coming up is interesting timing for me because my best friends eldest daughter has been getting very interested in astrology. Last week she did my chart. Im an Aries with Pisces moon, venus in Pisces and a few other planets in Pisces with Scorpio rising - whatever all that means. My partner is Scorpio and we're a great match. My eldest son is a Saggitarian and we share the same sense of humour but our approach to life clashes sometimes, my youngest son is a Capricorn and we are both naturally introverted so we can read each other clearly without words a lot of the time. My ex was a libran and we were totally incompatible but Ive had libran friends in the past and got on really well together ?????? Its all a bit baffling to me but very very interesting.

Julie x
Kleeo
Oh Julie I agree with you completely! The whole astrology thing baffles me.

I'm a Virgo, and my daughter is also a Virgo. What I LOVE about this sign is it's the only zodiac sign represented by a female! (I AM WOMAN HEAR ME ROAR!) My ruling planet is Mercury (don't have a CLUE what difference that makes? LOL!), and I think it's kind of cool that Kristy McNichol is also a Virgo because SO many people have told me that I remind them of her! Kind of ironic. We are prone to indecision which I have found VERY true of myself. Other than this bit of boring information, I have NO idea what being a Virgo means! LMBO! laugh.gif tongue.gif
HUGS!
Billysrose
Hi! Aries and Scorpio are great matches if they learn to work together rather than against. Both are power hungry. My rising sign is Leo, and as I've said Aries is my Sun, and Scorpio my moon. I was born the exact day and year as Actress Shannon Doherty and actor Nicholas Brendan.
Billysrose
Julief.

Libra is our astrological hell! Not knockin any here, but to an Aries their hell on two feet with the indecision. My older son was born on a cusp of Virgo/Libra. The other under a cusp of Capricorn/Aquarius. Capricorns aren't too far from hell to an Aries either. I get along with both boys but dang! They have their moments! LOL!
Billysrose
On another note, some of my best friends are Scorpios, Sagitarians, and Pieces.
alice3
Both DH and I are Sagittarians, born exactly one week apart. He's 51 on Weds.

He is a typical Sag. he loves travelling, he's a charmer and outgoing etc. He's the doer who does without thinking. I'm not like that at all. I'm cautious, don't trust people and can weigh them up straight away. I'm rarely wrong about people. I like to do things on the spur of the moment rather than plan hols and I don't like sporty things at all! I'm blunt and am only pleasant to people I think deserve it! You can't BS me! laugh.gif

My daughter is a Cancer, she likes to be out in the pool but likes to scuttle home! laugh.gif
Billysrose
Hi! Do you know what your moon and rising signs are? smile.gif
Billysrose
Alice,

Sounds like you have Scorpio in you. Maybe your rising or moon signs? Scorps with a moon sign are very suspicious and jealous and can size up people very expertly. Probably like the Solar Scorp.
alice3
I don't think I have a mean manner like a Scorpio but I was able to stand up to a Scorpio boss I had at work. I think I have a few Capricorn traits smile.gif.

I don't think I'm a jealous person either. I just get mad when people don't do the right thing. laugh.gif
alice3
I also don't know what time of day I was born. No-one to ask!
