Just when I really felt calm for an extended period of time a stupid thing happened today!! Please pardon me for my anxious, worrying imagination!I was on my way home and my son called me to say a bird had flown into the house. I had left a window open (no screen) because it is a beautiful day in GA. He took care of it--actually my 7 month old Golden Retriever caught it and played in the backyard for an hour! Here comes the anxiety part--please don't laugh. I have heard that if a bird flies in your house it is a sign of death.  I can't get this out of my head--it is really bothering me.I decided to write about it because I have learned that it helps release the anxiety. I am also going to go meditate and let these thoughts float away. Thanks for listening, ladies(like you have a choice!!)Pardon a perimenopausal woman's bizarre thoughts!

Maureen,

I can understand your anxiety and there's nothing bizarre about your feelings.  Maybe if you read this, you'll look upon the situation differently.

Thank you Dearest. What a beautiful verse! It doesn't help that I am not a fan of birds. Although I love to watch them outdoors, I would never want one as a pet. Thanks again. PS. Glad you are feeling better.

I know how this stuff can get to you - I had a bird in my house ages ago, and nothing happened. And so did my mom.  So focus on that. Love, Linda F

What cute birds, Dearest!

if it helps any, I had a bird in the house years ago, too.  i got it outside...and lived to tell the tail.  Err, tale smile.gif

I think that's another of those old wive's tales that can be put to rest.  I know that they can be scary sometimes, though, and I'm glad that it got out ok smile.gif

I'm glad that you have a Golden...they're such adorable puppies and dogs smile.gif

Hi Maureen,It's an urban legend. . . and an old wive's tale, as Mary said.

You need fear nothing.  Think of birds in your house as a ramification of your desire to spread your wings!!

And Dearest,What an adorable graphic of the dancing birds -- and how appropriate!

I'd love to have a bird in my house!! . . . (of course, Olivia the Destructo-Cat would make a meal of it in no time!)

Never fear, Maureen, consider it a sign of growth and  personal expansion.

i would consider it an honor for a bird to visit inside my house..as we are avid yard bird watchers...my 2 cats would probably have problems tho..major anxiety on their part..the closest they've been to wildlife (they're indoor totally girls, my choice not theirs lol..) has been a few moths and flys..lol

Don't think you're silly for being anxious over something like that.  I have those thoughts cross my mind all the time and make me uncomfortable for awhile.  You're right to share these thoughts and to write them down.  It helps to let them go.   If it makes you feel any better, at this very moment my cats have a mouse they brought upstairs (and dropped) cornered under the heater in my bedroom.  I don't know if it's bad luck, but it's enough to make me anxious!!

Thank you all sooo much. You all always make me feel that I am not the only one who thinks these thoughts.Thank you also for the positive spin you put on the bird--I love all of your beautiful images! My cat just sat there but I laughed out loud late last night when I pictured this 7 month old puppy chasing the bird!!Your support is greatly appreciated ladies, have a wonderful day.

Hi:Maureen - I can tell by your post that you are now feeling better - great   It just reminded me of when my sister-in-law used to live across the road from the Zoo.  Despite the railings and fences, she found so many tiny creatures strolling around in her patio - those that wormed their way out under the railings or those that flew over (visitors) - even the giraffe popped it's head over the railings once or twice till they moved it and birds - I can't even begin to tell you.  They eventually moved because they could hardly ever open the windows - too many bugs and aromas

Hi Barbie!I don't know about the bugs and aromas,  but I would love to have a giraffe popping its head into my garden!!  How fabulous!

How about a hyena in the hacienda?  A llama in the livin room?  A dromadery in the den?  A kangaroo in the kitchen?  A baboon in the bathroom?

The thought of it is too wonderful!  (and too smelly!  )

Thanks Barbie. I can't imagine the aromas they must have had to deal with--PU!!!thanks for you kind words.

Hi:

Sylvry: No, the giraffe popped it's head over the zoo fence, it would have had to cross the road to get to my sister-in-law's (or stretched a bit more ) They brought a mate for it eventually and moved it to a bigger housing complex (the giraffe that is).

Not sure I'd be too easy with your house pets (are you sure it's just Olivia there ????

Kisses, Barbiexxxxxxxxx
