Hi everyone.. I am interested in hearing about experiences with surgical menopause. I am in a surgically induced menopause...I've had 3 years of hormone problems. Has anyone else had any problems, especially young women under 40? What symptoms have you had?  Weight gain? Hair loss?  Please share....thanks..
Sally
Hi LizI was thrown into surgical menopause 11 years ago at the age of 39,I used HRT for a few years but it just gave me to many side affects so I just use herbal products.I at long last do not suffer with hot flushes,or any of the other symptoms, the only thing I get is the phantom periods which is quite common in post menopausal women. You will find as time goes by your body well adjust to the lack of hormones, and you have got to remember that you have been thrown into menopause much earlier than you would have had naturally.Sally

Hi Liz,Had both ovaries removed in 1996 at age 34 (benign dermoid cysts the size of fists). Started HRT. Went through two years of hell with panic attacks, memory loss, heart flutters and over-reactionary outbursts. Tried several HRTs and am now on an estrogen gel (transdermal gel, available in Europe where I live) and quarterly doses of synthetic progesterone. I feel, for the most part, at least mentally, great. I have gained a ton of weight. My middle looks like I eat 7 dozen doughnuts a day, though I have actually lost my appetite. I have a bunch of strange symptoms, as we all do.I should be bitter, but I am not. I find the process somehow fascinating and I deal with it as it comes. That having all been said, it still can be really annoying!

Hi Liz,

Oh my gosh!  I have all the symptoms you mentioned after surgical menopause.....the most frustrating of which are weight gain and sleep problems....I am looking for naural supplements....have tried promensil; am now trying Estroven....I'd like to know your opinions on the Estroven as compared to Remifemine and Promensil???  ANYBODY HELP

Sheree
Hi Liz and Sugarplum,I had surgical Memopause at 34 yrs old, I am now 43. I have been though hell and back to say the least. I suffered from all the symptoms of memopause the most troubled by palpitations with arrthyrmia, panic, hot with sweats, chills, numbness, . I was fine after a few years but all this returned, I decreased estrogen over 3 years. Last  fall after a stressful year ( read in panic attack board) I increased my estrogen and take it every 6 hours so it does not roller coaster. I am feeling much better but still every once in a while I have anxiety. We women with no ovaries are like diabetics. We need our hormones. Every one is so different in what they do . I am still searching for the right combo. Good Luck and God Bless, Sheree

Hi SugarpbmI take premarim .625 X3 a day. They say from my blood work that I do not absorb this well. Tried the patch and got very sick on that.  I am just looking for the right combo. Love, Sheree

Hi Liz I was introduced to Memopause surgically 21 years ago..and I do remember the symtoms I experienced . I was placed on HRT and did ok after the DR finally figured out the correct dosage right for me..but prior to that I had anxiety , moodyness and dizzyness for a time...immediately after surgery I had major hot flashes but those went away quickly . I hope this helps.
